Newt's POV

"Newt? You gonna help?" Zart said as he looked at me. I stared into space thinking and hoping my greenie would be OK. Zart's voice brought me back to reality. I was stood by the forest with my machete in my hand, we had to dig up a trunk for the builders. "Oh yeah, sorry" and i started hacking at the roots of the trunk. "Newt, greenie will be okay you know. I know you worry about her...but shes more capable than those two of surviving. She WILL come back i promise!" he said trying to make me feel better and in a way it did, i knew she was smarter and stronger than Minho and Alby put together, but i still worried about her, not just about her safety but about Minho in there with her. I can't stand looking at them. I know she loves him and he's her best friend but i hate the fact he makes her feel something that i cant.

"Newt?"

"What Tommy?"

"Why has Alby gone out there?"

"Retracing Ben and Y/N's steps. Are you going to help?" i said sourly.

"Yeah sorry Newt" and Thomas stood up and started to help hack the trunk, i looked up at Chuck and could see he was still carving something so i decided to leave him to it, i love Chuck as much as my greenie does.

Reader's POV

We have been running for three hours at this point, we past the spot Ben disappeared but Alby insists that we need to keep going, i'm not so sure. Minho keeps dropping me looks every five minutes and it's getting kind of annoying.

"WAIT!" i shout to Alby. I could hear the familiar sound of metal on stone. Grievers. The sound made shivers run down my spine, i pull my machete out and hold it defensively in front of me."What's wrong?" Alby whispers. I mouth the word to him and i see his face suddenly change from confidence to terror and he runs behind me. Minho pulls his machete out from his back pack and holds it in front of him too. We stand there with our backs to the wall and trying to keep our breathing as quiet as possible, i can see Alby and Minho panicking. I tilt my head around the corner and then i hear it, Alby's horrific scream of pain.

I whip my head around and see Minho stood frozen and a griever taking it's syringe out of Alby's stomach. Alby lies on the ground lifeless but i know he wont stay that way...He's going to wake up and try to kill me just like Gally did. I watch the griever rush towards Minho, i expect him to fight back but he just back up and drops his knife.

"DAMMIT MINHO!" i shout and i push him out of the way and pick up Minho's blade. I start to slash at the creature and manage to remove 2 of its four legs, it was wobbling around and i continued to hack at the fleshy part of the griever dodging it's hook like tail, i circle it and see Minho sat frozen against the wall. Not so intimidating now eh? Looking at Minho distracted me and i felt a stabbing pain in my calf as i was lifted from the ground by the griever's tail, one of the sharp parts of the tail was embedded in my lower leg. I scream in pain.

"Well i'm either going to die or i have to try and kill this thing" i say trying to ignore the pain in my leg, and with the blade i have left in my hand i take a chance and throw it at the creature. It hits where i wanted it to and a shrieking noise escapes the griever as it flings me in the air, it's tail rips out of my leg making the pain even worse. I curl into a ball as i brace myself for the impact on the ground. This is going to hurt. I hit the cold stone and black out.

Newt's POV

I feel a drop of water on my cheek and signal everyone to get in the homestead as it's starting to rain and we can't be dealing with boys with the flu. I stand against a support looking at the open doors and realize that the runners should be back by now. "They should be back by now!" i hear Thomas say, i turn to him "They're gonna' make it!" I have to believe they will. If she doesn't make it back i'm going to be on suicide watch after what happened last time.

"What happens if they don't?" Tommy said again, i didn't notice that he was standing right next to me. "They're gonna' make it!" I say a little louder. I look over at Gally and he looks just as worried as I do.

Reader's POV

I open my eyes and hear a scream. My bones are aching and i think my shoulder has been dislocated, the hole in my leg is bleeding and it stings. I stand up clutching my shoulder and keeping my bad leg off the floor. I hear a scream behind me and see Minho on the floor with a 'changing' Alby on top of him. I pick up a machete from the floor and hop over to Alby, i hit him over the head with the handle of the blade and he falls to the ground. "Thanks greenie" he says breathing deeply. "Minho I need...you to...put my shoulder back." I said wincing in pain after every word. "WHAT NO I CANT!" he shouts, he is literally acting like a 5 year old. "MINHO! I just saved your shuck faced ass...put my damn shoulder back!" I yell at him again.

I wish i didn't ask him to, Chuck could have done an easier job. He pushed my shoulder back into place and the noise made me shiver. Moving my shoulder still hurts like hell but it's bearable and I can already see a bruise forming.

My shoulder pain had dulled to an ache and now the only thing i can feel is the stinging, bleeding hole in my leg.

"Come on the doors are going to close in a minute!!"

"Minho i can't lift him!" i say pointing to Alby. There was no way i was leaving him out here to be killed.

"I'll do it" and with that Minho lifts Alby on his back, he looks back at me as I try and put weight on my leg, I fall back to the floor in pain.

"Go! Get out!" I say through my teeth.

"Greenie im not leaving you!"

"GO!" I shout at him and he starts to run back.

I stand back up and hop slowly behind him.

Newt's POV

The sky clears and we all run to the doors. The doors will close soon and I am seriously starting to worry. "Can't we send someone after them?" Tommy said worryingly. "No it's against the rules." Gally spat out. "We can't risk losing anyone else" I said as I felt a tear run down my face.

"Newt Y/N is out there! You're just gonna leave her?" Tommy pleaded.

The doors started to close. "NO. NO. NO." I shouted.

"Wait look!" Tommy said, he pointed to the maze and I can see Minho, as he gets closer I can see Alby on his back, but no Y/N. "Something's wrong!" I shouted.

The boys erupted in cheers for Minho to hurry up, I scanned the back wall for Y/N and saw her come round the corner, but instead of running she is pulling herself along the floor with one arm. Something bad has happened to her.

"They aren't gonna make it!" I said under my breath, I heard voices shouting for Minho to leave Alby and run. She's going to be stuck out there again. I watch as Tommy runs forward into the maze, I try to stop him but my reflexes aren't fast enough. The doors slam shut just as Thomas makes it to the other side of the doors.

"NO!! i can't believe she's left out there again!" I cry, I fall to my knees.

"Newt. She will be OK!" Chuck said sitting down next to me, I can feel his hand on my back.

"Are you an idiot? did you see her? she couldn't walk yet alone run! She's badly hurt Chuck!" I shouted at him and he backs off.

"Chuck, im sorry i just.."

"Its okay, you love her I know." he says smiling. "Thomas will look after her"

I hope he's right, if they do come back without her I will kill him.
