Readers POV
"Hey Newtie!" I said leaning over him. During the night I got Jeff and some of the boys to lift him onto a bed as he didn't look very comfortable. I kissed kid forehead and he fluttered his eyes open. "Hey Greenie" he whispered back. He snapped his eyes open and sat up and looked at me. "Greenie!" He said louder, he laughed and pulled me into a hug, I hugged him back and nuzzled my face in between his shoulder and neck. "I'm so glad your okay!" He said again. "Newt I'm ok I just blacked out I'm not hurt!" I said laughing, he flinched as my breath his his neck and I couldn't help but smile.
I pulled away and kissed him on the lips "I told you I'd come back!" And I kissed him again.

The moment was interrupted by Gally. "Guys keeper meeting in council hall" I looked at Newt and he smiled at me, we stood up and ran behind Gally over to council hall. Inside was Minho, Winston, Jeff, Zart, Teresa, Thomas and Chuck and Frypan. I couldn't help but feel like this was missing something. Alby.
"Newt you're our leader now. What do we do!" Chuck said looking up at him. Newt, Gally and I walked down the steps to join the others. "Well I think Greenie needs to take this one...or Minho or Tommy?" Newt said gesturing his hand for one of us to start talking. I stepped forward. "Ok we have all the letters we just need to make sense of them. All of us need to work solidly on this! As soon as we know what these letters spell we can gather everything up and get out of here!" I said folding my arms. The boys and Teresa nodded at me and seemed to be in agreement.
"I'm not helping" Gally said sternly.
"Why not?"
"Because I don't think leaving is the best option."
"what are you talking about?"
"We need to stay here!"
"NO!" I raised my voice and squared up to the large boy.
"IM NOT LEAVING!" He shouts getting closer to me. "FINE! STAY HERE AND ROT!" I shout. I start walking up the steps "AFTER BREAKFAST WE MEET BACK HERE AND WE SOLVE THIS KLUNK! Okay?" I walked out the door and heard the boys mumbling. I wasn't interested in listening to what they were saying, I know Newt is in charge but I had to do something.

I found a spot against the maze wall surrounded by trees and sat down.

Newt's POV
I watched her storm out of the room. "Nice one Gally!" I said sternly. "Alright everyone, Frypan sort breakfast and then back here afterwards okay? Tell your boys to carry on with normal jobs and tonight after dinner there will be a meeting discussing everything okay?" The keepers nodded and left the room, I walked out last and went to find Greenie. "Hey Newt!" I was stopped by Minho. "What is it?" I turned around and folded my arms. "Um you okay?"
"Yes I'm fine Minho why?"
"Well you tried to hit Y/N yesterday"
"I know. I won't forgive myself ever for it. What about it?"
"Why did you do it?"

"This maze is driving me mad Minho. I want to be everything she needs but I keep having these angry surges! Sooner we get out of here the better!"

"Y/N just needs you to be you Newt. She doesn't want you to be anything. And she certainly doesn't need anyone, she's an amazing person!"

"Yeah I know that. I still don't understand why she wanted me"

"If the world was mine I'd make her want me, but she doesnt. Stop questioning it Newt! She loves you! Be happy about it, whilst you still have her."

"what do you mean still have her?"

"I don't know, it's just a feeling. I don't think Y/N is going to have the best time when we get out of this place."

"I'm not the only one who feels something then?" It was true I had been reeling something wrong. I agreed with Minho that maybe Y/N was going to have a tough time outside the maze, but then I don't think any of us will have the best time. "The maze won't be the end Minho!"

"I know. Me and Greenie were talking about this in the maze. She agrees." Minho said, and then we heard Frypan shout for breakfast, I looked around and saw Y/N emerge from some trees, I walked over to the table and sat down waiting for her.

"Calm now Greenie?" I said squeezing her hand. She gave me a sharp look and Minho laughed. "Let's just solve this code okay?" She said, I nodded and carried on eating.

Reader's POV
"NO IM DONE!" Minho stood up at shouted. "Minho sit down. Your not done." I said giggling. "No Greenie I am. I can't deal with these letters anymore. We only have 4 words! And we still have letters left. IM DONE!" He moaned. I stood up and reached up to his shoulders "Minho sit your shank ass down and help or we will feed you to the grievers tonight okay?" I said giving him a sweet smile, he rolled his eyes at me and sat down. Newt laughed at how I can make anyone do what I want.

We had spent a few hours mulling over letters, it was only me and Teresa who ended up finding the words. The words we figured out were:
FLOAT
CATCH
BLEED
DEATH
We have letters left but it wasn't going to take much longer and it was only midday. "We could leave today you know?" I suggested. "You know if we find the remaining two words"

"No I think tomorrow is good that gives us today and tonight to figure out the code and then we can convince the other graders to come with us and sort provisions and stuff!" Newt said, he was right we needed this extra day but I didn't want to think about another person dying and who will it be this time? I will not let anyone die tonight. I will kill the grievers of I have to but I am not letting someone die tonight.

After dinner I solved the last two words.

"I can't believe we actually did it!" I said with the a smile so big my jaw hurt. "Nice one guys" Newt said standing up. We wrote the letters on a piece of paper and gave it to Teresa. "Don't you dare lose that!" Newt laughed and she nodded. "What do we do now?" Minho said folding his arms. "Now for the hard part. we persuade the other gladers to come with us" I said letting the light into council hall by opening the door.
