"Ate Aiks, you'll be the one to fitch me ba later?" Tricia asked me while we were heading to the hospital where she was working.
"Itetext na lang kita mamaya, baka kase matagalan ako since we have a meeting at 8 pm later." I glanced at my watch, baka kase malate na kami, umaga lang ngayon ang shift niya kaya ayoko ko nang paghintayin siya mamaya, papasunod ko na lang kay mama.
"Bye Ate, thanks." I kissed her on the cheek before she closed the car door.
Kung minamalas ka nga naman at na traffic pa ako while heading to the office. Kinakabahan na ako kase may iwewelcome kami ngayon, our new company's lawyer.
I saw my phone vibrate besides me and since it's still on red light I answered it.
"Hi, Love! Good morning." I greeted her, I turned it on loud speaker and drive again.
"Hello, mommy. Good morning, you're not here anymore? Why did you leave so early?" Reklamo niya.
"Ow, sorry Love. Mommy needs to go to work early today, know what I'll just take you to the mall na lang this weekend so we can have our time to bond, is that okay?" I said softly, she's so clingy.
"Omg, yey! Sige po, take care Mommy! Lola's calling me na for breakfast I'll end it na po ha." Hindi man lang ako pinatapos binabaan na ako. I just shook my head while smiling.
Sakto namang nakarating ako sa office, but I'm already 10 minutes late. Lagot.
"Hi, Ma'am!" Bati ni Manong Guard pagpasok ko, I just smiled.
Dali-dali kong hinabol ang pasarang elevator, when I saw a familiar face.
Anong ginagawa niya dito?
Nakita niya naman akong nagmamadali papalapit so he opened it again. Nahiya tuloy akong pumasok, so I just bowed my head not facing him. Jusko, ba't ngayon pa kami nagkita at dito pa?
He's the one to pressed the botton.
"Floor?" I look at him and he was looking at me too, waiting for my answer.
"10th" I answered, and he pressed it.
Awkward. It's just the two of us here, and ba't ang tagal nitong elevator, sabihan ko nga na ipaayos 'to.
Since I'm in front of him, I took the chance to see him through our reflection, I can see him busy with his phone. I can also smell his scent, ang bango pa rin.
Hala Aika tumigil ka nga. Sermon ko sa sarili.
Sa wakas bumukas din ang elevator at akala ko makakahinga, but no. Lumabas din siya kasabay ko, I looked at him again, wondering why he's here.
"I have meeting here." He suddenly said not looking at me parang nabasa niya ang iniisip ko.
I was shocked when he also stopped, we are in front of the conference room, that's it. Kasama pala siya sa meeting namin ngayon, pero bakit?
Oh God, don't tell me.
He opened the door, and everyone look at us, as if kami na lang ako kulang. Ay kami na nga lang.
"Oh, they are here." Mitch announce, then lead us to our seats. Kung minamalas nga naman ako magkatabi pa kami.
The meeting started, and I just took my Ipad out to note the company's changes of schedules.
"Mr.Vincent Ezrael Gonzales, will be the new head of the Legal Department." I'm not shock anymore since we entered early, he's one of our country's bar topnotcher in law, one of the best known lawyer. I look at him as he stand and introduce himself to everyone.
I wish you knew how proud I am.
He suddenly look at me kaya umiwas ako at tumingin sa harap habang nakikinig sa mga sinasabi niya.
"Ms.Robredo?" Mitch suddenly called my attention.
"What's that again?" I felt embarrassed, nakatingin na pala sila at naghihintay sa akin, I'm spacing out, sorry naman.
"As I said earlier, Mr.Gonzales will work with you with this project.." Pinapakita ni Mitch sa monitor ang project na last month pa, delayed lang dahil sa pag alis sa bansa ng dating company's lawyer, kailangan kasing kasama sa proyektong ito ang lawyer for some legal documents to sign at iba pa.
I nodded, and the meeting went well, nauna na akong umalis doon at dumiretso sa office ko.
Finally nakahinga din. Around 1 pm na natapos ang meeting kaya nagpahatid na lang ako ng lunch sa secretary ko, dahil marami pang papers ang nakatambak sa akin.
"Ms.Aiks, your meeting with Mr.Gonzales and Ms.Reyes is cancelled pala mamayang 8 pm, tumawag po si Ms.Cruz to inform you, may emergency daw po siya." Sabi ni Stacy pagkababa niya ng pagkain sa table ko.
"Sige, salamat Stacy. Did you tell this to Mr.Gonzales already?" I asked and open my food.
"Ah Opo, nakasabay ko po siya sa elevator kanina." Stacy smiled.
"Oh..okay. Thank you ulit Stacy—wait did you eat na rin ba?"
"Ay Opo, kanina pa po kami tapos. Sige po labas na muna ako, Ma'am." I smiled and she did too.
I saw that I got notification from my phone so I opened it.
"Did you eat your lunch na po ba?" I read the text.
I replied to it, and put down my phone to focus on my food.
"Yes, babe. I'm eating my lunch rn, how about you? Btw I'm out early today, let's have dinner at our favorite?"
