Where was Mera. Out of all the times I needed that gay fuck, she wasn't here.

Here I was sitting at a dinner table with people I didn't quite approve of in my house.

Everyone ate like nothing was different. Even Braylen. I had yet to touch my fork. My appetite was twisted. I was confused. Not knowing a damn thing that was going on.

Why were three of my enemies in this house. And who was this man sitting at the end of the table. Wearing a all black suit with one button opened. Like this was his house.

"So Demario..." my mother started a conversation.

"De, ma'am."

"De...what do you plan on doing after high school. You're father here has told me that you have a great relationship with cars. Mechanics." So this man was his...father.

"Mechanics involve working with people, Miss Campbell." His rough, pronunciation with words were still in his voice. But he sounded like he was trying to sound proper. "I'm not gonna hide it, I don't have good history with them. So I think I'm going to go to the military."

Shooting people and fighting. Blood and wounds. It sounded like him.

"Mom, what the hell is going on? Just please tell me."

The table went silent and everyone's eyes fell towards me. No one said anything or even touched their utensils. It was like my mouth paused the table like I was a remote .

A knock came from the door and I instantly scooted my chair back and went to get it. Thankful for this escape from the awkward situation I was in.

I opened the door and felt that earthly air hit my skin. Something I didn't know I needed so much of right now.

"I smell chicken!"

"Shhh." I grabbed Mera's arm and pulled her into the house aggressively. I moved to the side and shut the door to the house. "I'm fucking confused. I feel left out. It's like everyone knows what's going on except for me. There's four men sitting at my dinner table right now. Making themselves at home, in my home. Mera please. Break me out of jail." I whispered and she looked at me puzzled.

"Can I still eat after we beat their asses?"

"Ladies! Come to the dinner table."

I sighed and rolled my eyes. Then grabbed my best friend's hand and pulled her into the dining room with me.

"Hi mom. We have some womanly problems going on. Would your heart stay pure and let us exit this wonderful dinner of yours?"

"Both of you sit. Mateo and I will get straight to the point."

"Okay..." My tense body eased down a little bit now. Knowing that I was going to hear what was going on. I knew something was up.

"I know you have probably noticed our guests across the street." She looked at the three boys that I loathed just the sight of. "They have been renting out that house for the last few weeks. It was sort of a coincidence when I found out that De is Mateo's son. The man that I just became engaged with. Now before you..."
