"Excuse me, sir. Would you please move this item out of the chair so that I can have a place to rest my ass?""The animals sit over there." De pointed to the corner of the classroom beside the window. "Let me get my leash and walk you over there." He laughed and his friends joined in as well.
"Fuck this."
My social energy was already draining today minute by minute. I just wanted to go home and play my guitar. Write stupid ass songs or poems. Do anything but be here.
My eyes were focused on the door getting closer to my sight as I made my way out of the classroom.
"Miss Campbell." Great. "Take a seat, class is starting."
"Sir, the vibe of this classroom is very unacceptable in my terms."
"Sit down Kambrea." Mr. Miller told me. He was also the music teacher. Meaning we knew each other pretty well.
"Listen, Miller. Let me out of this shit hole, and I'll get you on with that lunch lady you've always had a thing for. What do you say buddy?" I whispered and winked.
"Manipulation isn't going to work so easy on the first day. New year, new me. Go sit down." What a hypocrite.
"Oh for fucks sake Rob. Have sympathy for a socially awkward student."
He pointed into the classroom and I just gave up. I made my way back across the room to that empty seat.
His backpack was still sitting in the chair. The only thing I felt I could do was move it. So I did, with my foot. Then sat down, ignoring every else's occupancy around me. It felt like the whole classroom was staring at me right now.
"I'm going to fucking kill you K." He scoffed wickedly to himself, sounding so serious because of how much of a menace he was as a person.
K is what he had always called me. He made it clear from the first time that my given label wasn't going to change.
"Please do. Also, my name is Kambrea. In case you didn't know. I noticed a defect in your vocabulary when talking to me. I have no idea who "K" is? Let's find her?"
"Good morning class! Welcome to music—I mean calculus! All of you will be in here for every term of the year. So get used to one another, learn your peers!"
"Fuck."
"The seats you are in will be permanent. We do not play musical chairs in here." He walked around the room and already started passing out packets to everyone. "What I am passing out to you is a packet filled with many different topics. Some requiring group work with the ones around you. You must keep up with this assignment as the semester goes on."
He arrived at our table and sniggered a little. As he gave me the paper I grabbed it with my middle finger, making it very visible for him to see.
"Today I want everyone to flip to page three. Since it's the first day I figured doing group work would be very necessary."
"It's so sad. I have to work with a mentally disabled child. I can feel the struggle for me already."
I felt a hand grab my thigh underneath the table. He squeezed it tensely. My body throbbed and I tried to jerk my leg away from him. But he held me too tight.
