"Mateo!" My mother's laugh comes from the living room. So much exaggeration in it. "Put a hand on the rock, and feel for something. Not the actual temperature!"

I walk near the voices that start up more in that area. Including my brother, best friend, and two more boys who I did not look forward to coming home to.

Axel, Blade, and De were her as well.

How did he even make it here before I did.

My body and head leans on the side of the load bearing wall while my family connects with another one.

All looking so happy and adjusted. Without me.

I don't care. I don't.

But my dramatic ass sentiments said otherwise.

Mera's on the floor with my brother and Blade, kicking both of their asses in call of duty, it seems to be.

Braylen's getting annoyed and Blade's just keeps that straight, determined face of his.

De is on the couch. Scrolling on his phone, looking disconnected from the people surrounding him. Yet, in a comfort zone.

Axel is watching the game on the Tv as he destroys a ham sandwich in his hands.

Then my mother and Mateo. They're sitting side by side. Looking like a couple that any two lovers would desire to be.

They look at each other like something they've craved to have their whole lives. And they finally get to have it.

Seeing each other as a dreams.

The beat and feeling of my heart enraptured for a split second from seeing the long lost look of true happiness on my mother's face.

I turn around from all of the action going on.

Already embarrassed from the shitty day I've had. Not prepared for anymore embarrassment that could possibly come my way today.

Just ready to bury my face into the sheets of my bed, and maybe even get my fucking pillows wet. I'm admitting it...I can be a pussy.

Emotions are such silly little things. That will forever be uncontrollable.

My foot steps forward, and this old ass house peeps its little words for once.

The floorboards creak.

"Brea! You're home, darling. De here told me that you were at school catching up on some work? They're already putting loads on you spirits of youth!"

"Hello...mother." My words waver while the people in the room throw their quick glances at me.

I catch De's fingers as they stop moving across the screen of his phone. Now it's just resting in his large hands.

I see bruises on them, my vision sighting more than it aimed to.

His eyes move up slowly to me and holds mines.

For the second time today.

I squint and smile awkwardly at the entire room.

Mostly at De, though. Making the smile have a small mixture of daunt in it, just for him.

Of course it doesn't sway him. His attention goes back to the "economic device" in his hand. Smirking wickedly at the phone while his thumbs scramble across it.
