She ducked herself in the tub full of water, closing her eyes , relieving every moment of her 3 years of marriage. Ohh marriage... What a scam it was. She could hear her two year old daughter crying her lungs out in her room , but she couldn't get her out of the memory lane she entered.
Got married at the age of 22 with all the lavishness and pom pom that her parents could afford. Khushi wanted to have a career of her own but being the "good girl" she was, she couldn't voice out her opinion in front of her parents. She accepted the marriage and the man wholeheartedly. Everything was rosy for the first 6 months and then started the emotional violence on her. Ahaan would speak rude to her at every given point, expect her to be at his beck and call, slave for his family. He never used to let her stay at her home even for a day. Everytime she would come to home , he followed her by the evening to get her back. Initially it looked cute and romantic but then it felt obsessive. He slowly started cutting her ties with her friends and even her family. He never really respected her wish, hobbies and her opinions. In Short she was looked down by her own husband. He started ruling over her to the extent that she couldn't even wear the dresses of her own choice. Initially he used to say that he wished to see her in that dress then it became the demand. The plea of his wish became his authority. She started feeling suffocated in that marriage.
"Khushi...... Khushi.... bahar aa jao bcche.... please meri baat suno.... meri jaan please...." She heard her mother's voice from outside.
(Khushi... khushi come outside kiddo... Please listen to me.... my life please....)
And she didn't wanted to respond. She had no energy to say anything.
"Khushi, Anu mujhse ni chup ho rhi... Uska ro ro ke bura haal h... mere liye na shi to uske liye aa jao...." This time she heard her daughter name . And the mother inside the devastated lady took charge.
(Khushi, I can't pacify Anu.... She is crying badly... Please come outside for her if not for me.)
She came out of the bathroom water dripping from her body and clothes ruining the carpet of her room, and went straight to her daughter and tried to pick her up.
"Apne kpre to badal le, anu ko thand lag jayegi...." her mother said but she was unresponsive so her mother draped towel around her so that the baby could be prevented from the water.
(Change your clothes, anu will catch cold)
Garima Gupta was devastated when she saw her daughter and granddaughter at her doorstep this afternoon with their luggage. Normally she would have been happy to see her daughter but the blank look of her daughter's face was telling her otherwise. Khushi handed Anya to her mom and replied to hundreds of the question her mother posed in a minute with a single sentence.
