The icy cold had spread to her bones on the path through the forest to the main building.

Goosebumps had formed on her skin and although Bucky had immediately applied ointment to the slight burns, these skin areas hurt especially when the goosebumps started to form on them.

She had pulled her coat up over her nose in the hope that her warm breath would warm her a bit.

And even when she had already changed and snuggled into her bed, under the down comforters, and her body started to warm up again, she didn't manage to close her eyes to sleep.

What had felt like hours to her, she tossed and turned in her bed from left to right but her thoughts didn't stop circling.

What Bucky had told her just wouldn't let her rest.

She only knew the stories of the Winter Soldier and how cruelly he had killed, but she had seen it in his eyes.

She had seen that he was a broken man, forced to act against his will.

And she had seen how this broken man tried to build up something to make up for the bad things of his past.

The pain his eyes had radiated when he had confided a part of his past to her.

She herself had experienced a lot of bad things in her young years, but she knew that her suffering was not comparable to his.

After another two hours, when she still hadn't managed to drift off into the world of dreams, she decided to take a walk around the building.

The danger that she would run into someone was relatively low that night since she had noticed how countless former Black Widows had left on short notice for a mission.

What these missions were about she still didn't know.

She had asked Ramona about it several times, but despite being her friend she always got the same answer.

"Daria, you know I've taken you to my heart in this short time, but despite everything you're still kind of a prisoner here and I'm not allowed to tell you. As much as I would like to."

Daria would be lying if she said that these words didn't hurt her, but she was also aware that her newfound friend was right.
Even though she could move relatively freely, she knew that she was still a prisoner.

Daria walked a few laps through the huge building, enjoying the peace and quiet, and was finally able to let go of her thoughts.

But letting go of her thoughts led to her suddenly standing in front of the back exit of the building.
Without a second thought, she slipped into a jacket hanging on the coat hook next to the door and went out into the icy cold once again.
