A pain ran through his temples as he opened his eyes and was blinded by the bright light on the ceiling.
He could barely move his arms because they were tied at his wrists, just like his legs, to the chair.

Dully he could hear different voices as they seemed to discuss about something, however, he could not follow the spoken words because they mixed in his head like pudding.

The only thing going through his mind was Daria. He didn't know if Nat had managed to pull her out of danger or if she had been stupid and stubborn enough to intervene and end up in captivity as well.

Bucky had known since the day he scraped Daria bleeding from the street that this day would come.

That the time would come when Steve would show up and turn the lives of the two of them upside down.

He had been aware of this all along and although he had chewed over the various possibilities with Nat a thousand times, he had always hoped that a miracle would happen and he could simply live a peaceful and quiet life with the love of his life.

But that was obviously not the case.

He sat chained to a chair in one of the Avengers' quinjets, still trying to make sense of the words he heard.

With intense concentration that felt like his head was about to shatter into a thousand pieces, he focused on the conversation that was presumably taking place between Steve and a woman.

Bucky lowered his chin to his chest again. His head hung down heavily, almost as if he were still unconscious, and that was exactly what he was trying to accomplish. He wanted the others to continue to think he was unconscious, the only way he could pick up snippets of the conversation and come up with a plan in peace.

When he realized that the Avengers still had no idea who the woman was who had attacked Steve over a year ago, but had saved Sam, it literally took a load off his mind.

Even if he would be in captivity from now on, he knew that they were not after Daria.
But as quickly as the worries faded, they came back again.

He knew his wife well enough to know that Daria would not simply accept this.

At the thought that Daria was plotting revenge, he felt a sense of pride and fear at the same time.
Pride, because he knew that Daria could finally take revenge on Steve for what he had done to her, and fear, because he knew that Daria would take any risk to get him out.

A knot formed in his stomach, his pulse shot up and panic spread through him.

He knew he had to stay calm.
He knew he would have to come up with a plan to get out of here before Daria had a chance to do anything stupid.

Slowly he could hear muffled big footsteps coming towards him as they came to a stop immediately in front of him.

"Buck?" Asked the voice he hadn't heard in decades and which had once been so familiar to him.
