You were going through your Instagram when you noticed your notifications multiplying every second, you didn't think anything of it at first. You were an NHL WAG of one of the best players in the league, Nate posted you sometimes, so your notifications going crazy wasn't unusual. A couple of minutes later, you noticed your notifications had really really gone up. Your eyebrows furrowed, you didn't think that Nate posted you, so you had no idea what was going on.

You turned around from your spot on the couch to look at Nate sitting at the dining table. "Hey babe, did you post me on something?" You asked him.

He shook his head, "No, why?"

"I have a lot of notifications, so I thought you had posted me or something," You shrugged. "Never mind."

He nodded, his attention going back to the food he was eating.

You turned your attention back to your phone, tapped on your notification icon, and your eyebrows furrowed. Thousands of people were tagging you in a post. Thousands. You scrolled through the comments, it was all mixed reactions.

user1: @yourusername is that you?

user2: @yourusername uhhhh what's this?

user3: @yourusername aw nate & y/n <3 they are so cute

user4: @yourusername 👀👀

user5: @yourusername omg i am so sorry y/n

You scrolled back up to see what the picture was. You zoomed into the picture, it was Nate kissing somebody outside of a restaurant. You shrugged it off, it was obviously you. Maybe the bad lighting made your hair look blonde. Maybe the blurry picture made your body figure look entirely different. You stared at the picture because you couldn't make sense of it.

It was obviously you, the picture could be old, you have died your hair before so it could be you in that picture. It could. Your brain wouldn't accept that your fiancé of one year, boyfriend of seven years, and friend of twelve years would be kissing somebody else. It was obviously you. But it wasn't.

"Nate," You barely even whisper, you didn't even hear it yourself. The hockey player looked up at you in confusion when he thought he heard you say something. He saw the back of your head, and you weren't moving an inch, so he went back to his food thinking that he misheard you.

You were paralyzed, you couldn't breathe at all, and you felt like you were dying. This was the equivalent of death for you. You had met Nate when you were six years old, he was the one constant in your life, he was always there for you and you were always there for him. You had been dating since you were eighteen, there hadn't been a day in your life when you didn't have Nate by your side. You thought you two were forever until ten seconds ago when you saw this picture.

You finally accepted that it wasn't you, it was obvious but your brain just couldn't accept it. In the picture, Nathan was wearing the watch you gave him for his birthday last year, the girl he was kissing was a blonde. You hadn't been blonde since high school. This was a recent photo and that wasn't you.

You stared at the picture, you stared at the picture. You tapped the screen when your phone started to turn off because you needed to see the picture for longer. The girl was skinnier than you, she had blonde hair, she was wearing a dress, she had high heels on, she was obviously younger and she was the complete opposite of you.

The worst part was the kiss, it was a kiss you hadn't seen in years. It was the type of kisses you were getting from him in the first years of your relationship. The kiss in the picture was filled with passion and lust, nothing you had now. Now it was just simple pecks on the cheek. He didn't want simple pecks from you anymore, so he went to somebody else.
