Timeloop AU

I think this is the oldest AU I have? It dates back to right after BOTO 13 bc I distinctly remember screaming abt this on Hangouts. There's also a book about this AU on my profile that I haven't touched for 4 years!! Fun times.

This will def have major spoilers for that book btw. I do kind want to continue it bc I like this AU.

I've actually been trying to go to the original Hangouts chat to see the discussion abt this AU, but unfortunately I don't think I can go that far back lol.

Anyways. The original premise for the AU was that Shieldy accidentally wished to redo the competition. Then for some reason, it kept looping, and Controlly was the only one aware of this while the contestants (mainly Shieldy and Shelly) had deja vu.

I think from there, reality kind of broke bc the timeline was too strained or whatever. Then the loop broke because Pinecone happened to steal the ticket.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, I know!! I did kind of revisit the AU recently though. Here's the revamped version:

So Controlly knew about BOTO's curse but kept on with his idea to find Rook, yeah? So in this AU, the spirits of the original BOTO curse the game even more by forcing a timeloop to punish Controlly. The line of thinking is that the spirits suffered during the original BOTO, yet Controlly wants to recreate that suffering for his personal gain, so now he gets to do it over and over again.

I think the main story would start the same as a little trick- Shieldy wishes do everything over again so the reader's like "God dammit Shieldy" but in reality, it was gonna loop anyway. Still thinking about that.

So the modern BOTO is neither the first nor last loop. Most likely. The story proceeds the same way, they do the competition albeit with some cases of deja vu.

Then things start getting weird since all the looping is messing up the timeline and such, and eventually the contestants learn all the reality breaking is bc of the timelooping.

Controlly tells them he doesn't know how to break the loop, but he thinks that if the loop keeps looping, everything will eventually break and yeah. World-ending kinda stuff.

So I think the spirits from the original game offer the cast a chance to stop the looping by sending them back in time to the original BOTO to make sure the whole game didn't end in vain.

And ofc they're successful because if they're not, the world kinda ends.... or at the very least, they're lost to time: either stuck in the medieval times or they get disintegrated by the loop. So good ending 👍

So that's the gist of the new version!! I like it a lot better now. I still need to work on like detail stuff I guess??? So tell me if you see any plotholes.

I think this'll be fun to write!! Especially when they go back to medieval times and such; it'll be cool having them trying to fit in with the older times. And yknow, characters like Boombox and Controlly will have a pretty hard time fitting in bc they're not from that era lol

Along the same line, which characters do fit in? Scissors and Shieldy definitely, and I think Pear, Pinecone, Shelly, Boat...I think that's it??

Idea where some ppl mistake Shieldy for one of the knights lmao. Or they mistake Scissors for the princess.

I know it's strange that the spirits from the original BOTO could induce a time loop on the entire world, but....eh??? That kinda contributes to the whole "putting a strain on the timeline" thing. The whole world looping over and over is too much, and the spirits realize this a bit late lol. That's why they offer to send the cast back in time in the first place.

Just some kind of detail stuff??? Shieldy and Shelly don't get to the finale in every loop; and things change each time. Partly because Controlly wanted to experiment to see if changing things would break the loop, and partly to mess with the contestants. So like he'd do different challenges, restructure the competition every so often, yadda yadda. And the contestants themselves don't do the same things each time, either. There's different teams, alliances, friendships, and elimination orders.

In fact, it isn't until the later loops that Controlly asks Hot Dog to help with finding Rook. He's not even successful the first few times.

So...yeah!! That's basically it. If you have any questions, let me know :] If I think of anything else, I'll probably add it to the chapter.

K bye, love you <333
