"as the tears trickled down her face, she finally realised what she was living for"

a loud gasp escaped her mouth at the sight she saw from her bedroom.

her father lay there, twigs and branches caved into his stomach, the roots now appearing out of his back and through her mattress. his cheek bones were showing, he looked a new sort of pale, his face was completely colourless. crimson red liquid dripped from his eyes while his mouth oozed out a black sort of substance.

"holy shit" she whispered as she looked around her old room, attempting to avoid her fathers corpse that lay uncomfortably on her bed. she glanced at the old posters she had hung around her room, her old plants that began to decay, fluorescent green moss crowded small corners in her room, a new life growing as the old life slowly faded away. That's when it happened. The small record player that sat scruffily in the corner of her old room. small vines sitting on top of it, not have had moved for years. The small tune of 'she's always a woman' by billy joel beginning to play in her ears, her senses heightened as goosebumps littered her arms and the hairs on the back of her neck began to stand up.

"what the.." she whispered, her feet involuntary edging towards the sound. her body lightly shook with fear, the light lulls of the song echoing through her ears, gradually getting louder and louder. until it came to a complete halt.

a tapping sound now replaced the music, the sound now coming from behind her. her body froze with fear as her pale skin looked like it dropped in colour. the fresh blood still spilling out of her side from earlier that day. The tapping sound began to start scraping, like nails on a chalk board. the sound making her feel crazy but at the same time giving her a sense of hope that everything is still real.

Hawkins Indiana, 1986

"Okay do we have any sort of plan right now. Like any plan at all!" Eddie exclaimed running his tan hand through his curly hair as he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding

"I have no clue! we don't know where Alyssa is, the police are convinced Eddies a cold blooded killer and this vecna bitch is going around killing off people! he's already cursed Alyssa it's not long until he cursed someone else!" Steve yelled his voice getting quicker and quicker as he spoke with panic.

"okay, we all need to just calm down! Alyssa will be fine! She's smart we all know that, we know she has three days left so we have three days to find her and try and find an answer!" Nancy spoke trying to keep her voice monotone to try and hide the panic she too was experiencing during that exact moment

"and we need to end vecna and clear eddies name!" dustin added on giving them an awkward grin as they all gave him an annoyed glare. "sorry" he muttered rather sympathetically at the group who just shrugged. "holy shit" dustin muttered the group turning back to him once again.

"what now dustin" Steve's eyebrows furrowed in annoyance at the whole situation

"Boom! I was right" he grinned at the older boy, small dimples forming on his cheeks

"what?" The Harrington boy questioned rubbing his hand over his face a slight grimace covering his features.

"I was right. Skull rock was north." he spoke an elongated grin plastered on his face.

"what..? we're at skull rock now. you are so definitely wrong" Steve pinched the bridge of his nose at the young boys theory's

"no see! It's north!" Dustin quickly shoved his compass pointing north into Steve's face.

"seriously? you're serious?" he questioned mockingly believing that the boy had been toying with the compass. a small hum of agreement came from the younger boys lips, a grin never leaving his face.

"This worked correctly when we left the Wheelers'. Correct when we got in the car on Curly. But it started to slip the further east we went. Now it's way off. When I was leading us here, I wasn't wrong. The compass was" he spoke as he looked intently at the compass.

"wow.. so you're using faulty equipment. you're still wrong Henderson" He muttered looking around and checking his surroundings.

"Except it isn't faulty. Lucas, remember what can affect a compass?" he turned to Lucas as the taller boys eyes furrowed in confusion

"an electromagnetic field" he responded like it was a well known fact

"I must of skipped that class" Robin sighed as she turned to Nancy

"In the presence of a stronger electromagnetic field, the needle will deflect towards that power. So either there's some super big magnet around here, or..." he began quickly getting cut off by Lucas

"there's a gate" he finished

"but we're nowhere near the lab" Nancy questioned confused on how this was happening.

"But what if, somehow, there's another gate? A gate that we don't know about. It'd have to be smaller. Way less powerful. Snack-size gate." he looked at the rest of the group making sure they were taking in what he was saying.

"how.. why?" Robin questioned having no clue what was actually going on anymore

"No idea. All I know is that something is causing this disturbance, and the last time we've seen anything like it, it was a gate. And I hope it is because then we'd have a way to Vecna. And a shot at freeing Alyssa from this curse." he looked over at the lake where the girl had gone missing minutes ago.

oh how something was coming for them.
