"Shit!" Uncle Ames swears as he grabs his sword off his chair, "It's a Darkara!"
"What the hell is a Darkara?" I ask as I pick up the sword Uncle Ames had just given me and see that Michael has grabbed his as well.
"Darkaras are dark creatures that can be summoned by the Charvia to do their dirty work across the realms. They are one of the few creatures that can." Another lightning bolt comes through the window, catching some of the clothes we have left out near the washer on fire, Michael moves quickly to put it out before we lost the house, land or worse or lives.
"Okay, next and most important question. How do we kill it?" I ask as Michael finishes putting out the flames.
"You pierce it through the heart." Uncle Ames replies as he checks out the backyard again trying to get a good look at when the creature was located.
Pierce it though the heart, that shouldn't be that hard I think to myself as I dash out the back door just as a third lightning bolt tears thru the wall next to the window and hits right where I had been standing just moments ago. Well that went well. I hear Uncle Ames calling my name, but I can't respond because I have to dive behind the climbing wall as yet another bolt grazes past my head, this time taking a little hair off. After a couple of minutes, I take a chance and take a look around the corner to get a look at the creature. I only have a minute before a bolt comes at my head and I have to duck back behind the wall.
I know instantly at the brief glance I get that the creature I'm facing isn't human, but it isn't an animal ether. The beast is a translucent gray that fades dark to translucent each time it shot a bolt, and I knew it was staring at the wall that I had dove behind.
"Tobias, move now!" I hear Uncle Ames yelling at me. I look around the back yard and look for somewhere to move or to use. I had my sword but I know I'm not going to get close enough to use it. Straight through the heart, that's what Uncle Ames had said. Think, Tobias, I snap at myself, use the brains God gave you.
I snap to attention as I remember the bows that we have been practicing with earlier and looked towards where we had placed them after we were done. They were still there by the table, along with quivers and arrows.
Before heading towards the table, I look glance out one more time to see if I can spot where Michael and Uncle Ames are located. I see Uncle Ames in outside near back garden wall, but I have no clue where Michael is at. I get my uncle's attention and gesture toward the bows. Uncle Ames doesn't look happy about it, but he nods, and after doing a long count to three I make a mad dash for the table hoping Uncle Ames will distract the creature long enough.
Just as I grab the bow and reached for an arrow, I feel a blinding pain in the back of my back, making me drop to my knees and knock one of the quivers down to the ground off the table. I still have the bow though and was easily able to grab an arrow, it takes a moment for me to get a good shot because the pain in my back is making my eyes water, but thanks to the reflection of the creature from a practice shield that was leading nearby, I was finally able to get a good look at the it.
I am right about the grey only it's smoke, a light smoke that covers creature like a cape. The Darkara doesn't look like it even has hands at first, and it was fading in and out just like the smoke around it. When it finally does fully appear, it makes a horrid screech that makes me want to cover my ears. There something looks like it's glowing and I finally see what I need to shoot.
In the middle of the Darkara's chest was a what looked to be a cube and in that cube was a heart. The heart was emitting a very bright glowing light that goes from the chest up to the Darkara's face, and the creature's face was only a glowing light with no eyes, nose, or mouth.
