Chapter Nine

The creature in front of me probably goes only up to my chest in height and is either floating or standing on lightly on top of the water. This creature was humanoid, a female, that I know for sure by the dress she is wearing. It was black and hugs her body perfectly. She is probably considered very beautiful by most people's standards with her long blonde hair and azure blue eyes, but I was taught that beauty is more than skin deep.

I slowly lower my sword so that it isn't pointed directly at her but don't put it fully away as I stare at the creature, "Who are you and what do you want?"

The creature smiles at me flashing perfect teeth, "A friend, Your Majesty. My name is Viesa, I'm known more commonly as a water fairy."

"That doesn't necessarily mean you're a friend." I was able to flip through the guide when we first were joined by Salis and his sister. Fairies only showed up to talk when they need something from the person they were talking to. They aren't like Tinker Bell at all ether. I read that if you decide to help them, you need to watch your back always; otherwise, the fairy will and most likely find a way to try and weasel their way out of the deal you had made with them to begin with. Now I just need to know what this water fairy wanted with me.

"You haven't even been here a full two moon cycle and already the little prince has grown wiser. Haven't you?" The fairy remarks with a friendly smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes.

"I've always been a fast learner where or not I actually use what I learn. Now that's another story. What do you want, Viesa?" I ask as I take a step back this time farther away from the water.

The fairy takes a few graceful steps closer to the edge of the stream. It looks as if she's walking on the water but can't go at all past the edge and on to dry ground. As she comes closer water was ripples out in small waves, each wave stopping as it hit the edge. I can see the two moons' reflections in the water they look like they are being ripped apart with each wave, "I don't think the question you want answered is that Young Prince."

"Okay, let me guess. Is the question ''what do I want?" I comment but don't make a move toward the stream.

"As I said, wiser."

"Wise enough to know that fairies don't just give. They usually want a favor or the person to do something in return." I remind her a little proud of myself for the look of surprise in Viesa's eyes, "So, I ask again. What do you want?"

I guess Viesa decides to just drop the nice act, because the next thing that comes out of her mouth is, "Fine, something was stolen from me quite a few moons ago and its location has finally come up close enough near my stream here where I can sense them."

"What does you losing your items have to do with me?"

The fairy tosses her hair before snapping at me, "They were STOLEN I didn't lose them. Plus, I can only go where there is water, Boy! And I thought were smart." She sneers at me the water starting to boil around her. After a few moments of silence from the fairy the water starts calm down and so does she.

"If I was to help you look for this object, what is in it for me?"

"I would owe you a favor."

I shake my head at her already dismissing that. I know that what would happen if I do it that way, "Nope, not going to happen. If I was to do it the way you want then I get the item for you, you would just snag the item, leave and then I would never see you again or you would find a way out of the favor you owe me. That's not happening. I'm not falling for that." And with that last comment I turn around and act like I was going to head back to the caves. If the fairy is as desperate as I think she is....
