The Garrison.

It had been a week since John brought Sadie home from London. Since she had returned the two had barely spoken since. She had picked up a Job at the betting shop again and also got another one at the Garrison during the nighttime. The peaky boys had been upset about this at first, obviously always wanting to protect the girl but there isn't anything they could do, especially John. It was a busy night in the Garrison, However, there was not a single Shelby brother in sight which was strange because the war had caused all three to become extremely heavy drinkers. The other new barmaid, Grace was desperately waiting for Tommy to show up because of her relationship with Tommy. Sadie could tell how this girl made him feel which was a rare sight for the Thomas Shelby.

"Sadie, could you do closing tonight? I need to meet someone about something and it can't wait." Grace said while cleaning the glasses. Sadie nodded at the girl and she left soon after, leaving Sadie alone. When the girl started closing up, a blonde girl who Sadie had never seen before entered the building.

"Hi I'm sorry we are just about to close, we open again tomorrow at-" Sadie started to say but gets interrupted.

"No that's okay, I'm here looking for a Thomas Shelby? He said I could find him here. I met him in the war." The girl said. This confused Sadie as Thomas never seemed like the type to tell a girl to come looking for him. Especially one he would have met somewhere.

"Well, I know exactly where he lives so I can take you once I have finished here? I'm Sadie by the way. Nice to meet you!" The girl smiled and took a seat at a table.

"I'm Rosie! I think I have heard about you. I took care of John as well once. He wouldn't shut up about the girl he was going to marry when he returned home. How is he doing?" She asked while the girl continued to finish cleaning up. Sadie hated talking about John. Not because she hated the boy but because she loved him, and she refused to admit that she was wrong, that she needed the boy's letters over the past four years and realised that knowing the boy was hers would have made the time so much better. The girl was stubborn and refused to admit this to anyone. Not to Cassie, not to the Shelby family and not even to her own self.

"John... actually we don't talk anymore. It just didn't work out you know? I hope that someone comes from the war for him." She laughs slightly and finishes cleaning up.

"Actually any girl that talked to him he ignored. He was always fully set on you... I don't really know what happened and I know we just met but maybe you could talk to him? He told me you were best friends for 15 years before you got together. Maybe just get your best friend back?" Sadie nodded and looked at the girl.

"Yeah maybe? Do you want to get going? I doubt any of the boys will be sleeping. I am living with them at the moment while I sort my own place out. They are never asleep this early." Rosie nodded and stood up. The girls started to make their way to the house where the Shelby family lived. When they arrived Sadie unlocked the door and the first thing she could hear was John's laugh. She could listen to his laugh forever and it never got old to her. She let Rosie in and closed the door. "Tommy, you doofus. There is a girl here to see you!" she turned and faced the girl "Hey uh if you want and if you are staying in town maybe we could have a drink one night? I am in need of some female friends that aren't my little sister for once."

"Hey! Without me, your life would be boring. I keep you young!" Cassie came out to say to the girl before hugging her. Rosie introduced herself to the girl when Tommy appeared and stopped for a second.

"Rosie... you actually came?" Tommy questioned the girl. Sadie and Cassie took this moment to go meet the other boys upstairs.

"Ah, if it isn't the Jones' what a lovely surprise. Sadie, you are looking fine tonight." Arthur joked around but John wasn't impressed and punched his arm.

"Hey John, can we talk?" Sadie said and he nodded. This caused awkward silence in the room until Arthur obviously had something to say to help try and fix it.

"John if you impregnate her and it's a boy name him Arthur Jr Jr." Cassie laughed at this but the two just rolled their eyes at him and went to John's room.

"John I just wanted to say sorry for ignoring you, I have been a bitch I just needed to think and I know now that I am ready to be best friends again." Sadie sat on his bed and he sat next to her and sighed.

"Best friends? We were supposed to get married, but you and your one selfish reason could even wait for me. I didn't get with anyone during the war and waited for you but now you don't even want me? It's bullshit because I know you and you would never do that unless something was up."

"John I do want you, I just need time. We haven't talked in four year's and we have changed. I don't even think we are right for eachother any more."

"Bullshit Sadie. Okay right now how badly do you want to be with me. Right now if I kissed you would you kiss back? Would it turn into something more?" John was obviously frustrated with the girl but he also couldn't help but think about all the times they shared with each other before he left. He loved the girl more than anything.

He moved closer to her and she looked at him. "John you know that right now I would kiss you but tomorrow I would still feel the same."

"And right now I don't care. I was to be 16 again. For just one night." He leant in and kissed her.
