Chapter 74: Lunch With My Parents

(Tony's POV)

I drove over to my parent's house for lunch. Dom was there too!

Tony- Hey guys!

Mom- Hey baby!

Dad- Hey son.

Dom- Hey kid.

Tony- What's for lunch?

Mom- Your dad is going to make burgers on the grill.

Tony- Okay. Hey Dom. Can I ask you something?

Dom- Sure.

We walked to the front porch.

Dom- So what's up?

Tony- How do you know when you should... you know... propose?

Dom- Tony... you want to propose to Layla!?

Tony- Yea! I mean... I love her... and I want to spend the rest of my life with her.

Dom- Well, you have to make sure that's what she wants too.

Tony- Well... Layla said that she does want to marry me. That was a while ago and she said sometime in our future.

Dom- Then you have to figure out how you want to do it.

Tony- I don't know how I want to do it. I just know I'm ready. And I think Layla is ready too.

Dom- But that's still a big thing! Are you gonna tell your parents?

Tony- Yea. I just wanted to ask you if you thought I should.

Dom- If it feels right, then you should do it!

Tony- Okay. I think I have some idea about how I should do it.

Dom- That's good. I think you should go tell your parents though. Maybe they can help you plan it too.

Tony- Okay.

We walked back inside and they weren't in there.

Dom- I bet they went outside.

We went out to the back patio and they were there. My mom was sitting on a chair and my dad was at the grill.

Dad- Foods almost ready.

Tony- Mom. Dad. I have something to tell you.

Mom- What's up honey?

Tony- I'm going to propose to Layla!

Mom- Oh my gosh! That's amazing!

Dad- Way to go kid! That's so exciting!

Mom- When are you going to do it?

Tony- No idea yet. Well. I know what I want to do. But I don't know where or when.

Dad- Do you have the ring?

Tony- No. Layla does.

Mom- What?

Tony- I gave her a ring a while back. Before we even started dating. It's a spy ring. It saved her life. And then she used it to save mine. I'll ask her if I can have her ring. And she's gonna be really confused. And then I'll ask her.

Mom- Aww. That's so sweet!

Dad- That's a pretty good plan.

Tony- Thanks.

Mom- I never asked. Are Layla and her dad close again... or

Tony- Yea. He lives right down the road. I think he lives a few houses away for Joey and Maria. And Annie.

Dad- Oh. So are you gonna ask him before you propose?

Tony- Yea. I'm just kinda worried. He doesn't really like me.

Mom- Why not?

Tony- Because I'm dating his daughter.

Dad- Well... I'm sure he knows how much you mean to her. And I bet he will be happy for her to get to marry the person she loves.

Tony- Let's hope!

Dad- Oh burgers are done!

We had dinner and I stayed for a little bit longer before going back home to Layla. My mom talked about the wedding the whole time. And then changed the subject to, "when are you gonna have kids?" That's a little weird of a question when you're still trying to propose. When I opened the door, Lucy started to get really excited and jumped up on me.

Layla- Lucy! Down!

Tony- Hello! Hello! I missed you too!

Layla- Hey babe.

Tony- Hey! What's up?

Layla- Nothing. How was dinner?

Tony- It was good.

I couldn't tell her what we were talking about the whole time.

Layla- Everyone good?

Tony- Yup. Is that the Guardians?

Layla- No! It's Guardians 2!

Tony- Oh I'm so sorry...

Layla- You wanna watch something else?

Tony- What all is off limits?

Layla- Anything that's not Marvel.

Tony- Oh. So a Marvel movie.

Layla- Yup. Here I'll say a few lines from the one we should watch. And with the accent too!

Tony- Oh jeez!

She said all of it in a Russian accent.

Layla- You know this is the first piece of clothing I've ever bought for myself?

Tony- Uhhh.

Layla- Great plan. I love the part where I almost bled to death.

Tony- Oh Ummm.

Layla- It's dry... It's really dry..... Awww he's sensitive!

Tony- Umm...

Layla- Who talked with that accent Toretto?

Tony- Uh the guy in Age of Ultron?

Layla- Yes. He was also in Black Panther, but not him. Who else?

Tony- Umm. Oh! Black Widows sister!

Layla- What's her name?

Tony- oh jeez... uh... Ye... ye... yellow.

Layla- Yellow?! NO! It's Yelena!

Tony- Oh!! Do you want to watch Black Widow?

Layla- Yes. Congrats you finally got it!

Tony- Yay! Now turn on the movie!

Layla- I'm going... I'm going!

She started the movie and plopped down right next to me on the couch. She curled up next to me and was laying her head on my shoulder. Then Lucy came and sat down on top of us.

Layla- Alright! You sit with us!

Tony- So needy.

Layla- Right?!

All three of us stayed together to watch the movie. Lucy fell asleep and Layla whispered all the words to the movie. She still amazes me after knowing her for over 3 years!
