Chapter 75: Birthday Party

(Layla's POV)

Today is Frostee's 17 birthday. Toretto and I invited everyone over for a birthday party at our house. Toretto's mom came over to make the cake. Toretto and I are decorating the house. I have the marvel playlist playing on all of the speakers around the house... obviously! What else would I listen to? Frostee asked if we could invite my brother and Annie. He said he wanted her here. I decided to wear a nice dress, but I put my red jacket on top of it.

Tony- How's it goin mom?

Mom- Good. The cake should be done soon.

Layla- Thanks for coming and doing this!

Mom- Of course. I know I've known you for a while now... but I love your southern accent!

Layla- Oh thanks... It's just I don't even remember that I talk differently than y'all. It was the way I was taught to talk.

Tony- There are some funny sentences that she says though!

Layla- Wada ya mean, funny?

Tony- Like... knee high on a grasshopper.

Layla- It means when I was younger.

Tony- And... bottom of the barrel.

Layla- It means it's like the worst. Hey, you say some dumb stuff too!

Tony- Please no!

Layla- You say... aw lug nuts! And later nadder.

Mom- Later nadder?

Layla- Yea he said that after our mission in the Sahara.

Mom- That's kinda weird, Tony.

Layla- HAHA. Your mom is taking my side!

Tony- Come on mom!

A timer went off and Toretto's mom went to take the cake out of the oven. The front door opened and Joey walked in with Annie.

Joey- I like your playlist.

Layla- Thanks! Hey Annie!

I walked over and picked her up.

Joey- Annie. Do what we practiced. Ready?

Annie- L...Layla

I stood there speechless.

Tony- ANNIE! You said her name!

Joey- Good job!

Tony- Now me!

We all laughed. I hugged Annie and she started giggling.

Layla- Wanna go see Tony?

Tony- Come here!

He took her and walked over to his mom who was walking out of the kitchen.

Mom- Hello.

Tony- Annie. Say hi.

Annie- Hiii

Mom- Oh you are so cute!

Tony- Thanks.

Mom- Not you!

Tony- Hey!

Annie started laughing.

Tony- You think that's funny? Do you?

He started tickling her. Annie started to laugh and squeal.

Maria- I got it!

She walked in with a box.

Maria- It's really heavy!

Layla- Here! Set it down!

Maria- Hi!

She sat the box down and came over and hugged me.

Maria- Seems like Tony's having a good time with Annie!

Layla- Yea. Aren't those two so cute?

Maria- Yea! He's really good with kids!

Layla- That's cause he basically is one!

We laughed and walked over to everyone else. Then the doorbell rang. I opened it and my dad walked in.

Layla- Hey.

Dad- Oh... you still have that?

Tony- Have what?

Dad- The jacket.

Layla- Yea. Still fits.

Tony- I don't get it... what's so important about the jacket?

Layla- I love the Guardians since I was little. I liked Starlord the most and asked my mom to get me a red jacket like him. That was the last present she gave me.

Dad- After her mom died... she never wanted to take it off.

Tony- That's why you wear that so often?

Layla- Yea.

Toretto came up and hugged me.

Tony- I still think it makes you look cool!

Layla- Thanks Toretto.

Mom- The cake's done!

I pulled away from the hug to go check out Frostee's cake. It was a chocolate cake with blue writing on top. It said, "Happy Birthday Frostee!"

Layla- Oh it's beautiful! Thank you so much for doing this!

Mom- Oh of course! It's the least I could do for his birthday.

Tony- I think the house is done.

There were streamers hanging from the ceiling and a happy birthday poster on the window. A bunch of balloons in any open space and a balloon arch at the front door.

Layla- It looks perfect. Frostee should be here soon. Echo is on her way. Cisco has been keepin him busy!

Dad- Is this a surprise party?

Layla- No. Frostee asked for us all to be here. Cisco just didn't want him to be alone for the first half of his birthday.

Tony- Well. Let's see how this goes!
