*December 6th, 3:16 a.m.*
Everyone was asleep in the castle. Armin and Eren had made her a little muffin for her to eat earlier that night, but soon after that she ended up getting tired. So they ended up going to bed, and everyone else did an hour or two after them.
Right now, it was about 3 a.m. and the room of three was very quiet, save for the snores that came from both brunettes.
But suddenly, Mathilda woke up with a start. She sat up and looked around before crying loudly, her teddy bear in her arms and her pacifier laying forgotten on the mattress.
Eren woke up startled, looking around until he saw that she was okay, but crying.
"Shhhh, it's okay, Daddy's awake." He said just over a whisper as he got up carefully from the bed. Armin was finally in a rare, deep sleep, and he wanted to get to the girl before he woke up.
He walked over and picked her (and her bear) up, making sure to snag her pacifier. She gripped his shoulders as she cried and shook in his arms, which worried him greatly.
He grabbed her blanket, wrapping it around her and her tagalong and walked to the other side of the room.
He rubbed her back and rocked her, trying to get her to calm down. But she seemed extremely shaken up.
"What's wrong, mamas? Did you have a bad dream?"
She nodded and sniffled, trying to catch her breath. It almost seemed like a panic attack by her breathing (she's not having one, but it describes how fast-paced her breathing is). So he tried to focus on getting her breathing straight.
"Hey, hey, calm down. Daddy's here. You need to calm down baby."
He moved the hand on her back up to her face. He made her look at him and wiped the tears. Even though it was pointless, as more continued to fall, he still tried repeatedly.
"See? It's me, Daddy's here. You're okay babygirl."
Her breathing, slowly but surely, started to slow down as she stared at him and held her bear tightly. Once her crying had stopped, he slipped her pacifier into her mouth to make her breathe out of her nose and slow her breathing.
She did just as he had predicted, and her breathing started to slow down and she leaned her face into his hand.
"Are you okay?" He asked her. She sniffled and shook her head 'no'.
"What's wrong, babygirl? Tell me what happened."
She started crying again and he pulled her pacifier from her mouth.
"Mathilda, tell Daddy what happened. It's okay, just tell me."
"I dunno. Bad tings..."
Confusion washed over his face.
"...Bad things? What bad things?"
"I dunno, Daddy. Scary..."
He frowned, hating not being to understand what she meant.
"Well, let's go get you some water and talk about it, okay?" He asked her, giving her pacifier back and pushing her hair back. He received a nod in response. He smiled and kissed her head, turning to walk out of the door with her in his arms. He shut the door quietly after seeing that Armin was, amazingly, still asleep.
"Can you tell Dada what your dream looked like?" He asked, hoping to get her to describe something.
"Dark... Red stuffs all over. And there was choppies (knives/sharp items)..."
'What the hell kind of dream did she have??'
"It's okay babygirl. Me and Mommy will always protect you. And it was just a dream, don't let it scare you too much, okay?"
