*April 6th, 7:45 a.m.*
After a grueling mission ending in success, the scouts were on their way back to their hideout when, suddenly, they spotted a child curled up in a ditch. From afar, they seemed to be around 2 or 3 years old, and weren't moving. Eren was the first to come to a stop and jump off of his horse. He didn't even stop when everyone called out to him.
Once he reached the kid, he knelt down by them and checked their pulse. He rolled them over, making their eye open. They jumped back and looked scared of Eren.
"Hey, it's okay kid. My name's Eren. Do you have a name?"
"... J-Jonah..." The kid whispered. Eren smiled at the boy.
"Hello, Jonah. I'm here to help you. How did you get out here?" He asked while taking note of Jonah's left eye that remained shut and swollen.
"Mommy and Daddy took me here. Then, a-a big monster came and got 'em. I-I'm scared." The kid began to cry. Eren frowned and let the kid cling to him. He picked him up and turned to face the scouts running towards him.
"Eren! Why did you run off? Who's that? Are you both okay?" Armin began asking him.
"This is Jonah. I think his parents tried to escape the walls. I saw him in the ditch."
Levi walked to the front and began inspecting the boy.
"We'll bring him with us until we know what to do with him. Besides, Mathilda needs someone her age around her and vice versa."
Eren nodded and shifted the boy on his hip.
"Hey, Jonah. We're going to take you to our home with us, okay?"
The kid lifted his head and nodded, wiping his shut eye.
*After everyone gets back bc I'm lazy*
"Daddy! Papa!"
Armin and Eren smiled at her. They had finally gotten her to call Armin something besides Mama, and she seemed to like it just as much.
"Who 'dat?" She asked them as Jonah came into sight. He was standing behind Eren, holding his pants and looking around the room with big eyes.
"This is Jonah. He'll be staying with us for a while."
She smiled and walked over to him, gaining his attention.
"Hi! Wanna go play with toys?" She asked. Jonah looked at her and then back up at Eren.
"You can go play if you'd like. It's alright."
He let the younger girl take his hand and lead him to Armin and Eren's room, Armin following behind him.
*with Jonah & Mathilda*
"Wha's your name again?" The brunette girl asked.
"...Jonah."
"Jonah?" She tested the name. "What color do you like?"
He thought for a minute before he responded. "Red. What about you?"
Her nose wrinkled.
"Don't like red, scary. I like gween!"
Jonah smiled a little. "Green is cool."
She giggled and reached for the doorknob, but couldn't reach it. But, Jonah reached easily and opened the door. Mathilda looked up in amazement.
