The time machine

Synopsis: the gang finds a scientist that they suspect could get the witches back home.

Luz and her friends were walking down the street. It was in the evening and they were about to head home when they heard yelling. "Anyone willing to help me test out my time machine?" A figure with large hair and glasses teetered over to a family who more so were eager to get away from her than to hear about her latest invention. When the family made stares, she felt hurt and slammed her signs to the ground. "THIS TOWN DOESN'T BELIEVE IN SCIENCE NO MORE." "PEOPLE ARE UNINTERESTED AND UNINFORMED!" Luz spoke up and squealed "I believe in science." The figure turned and looked bashful "Science is so fun at my school." The woman smiled and said "I knew there was someone out here who had a heart for reactions and the like."

Luz continued and said "My name's Luz and these are my friends Amity, Gus, Willow, and Hunter." The woman practically leaped in place, but then stopped and became very serious. "Do they have a passion for science too?" Luz became nervous and said "Well of course they do." "They love science." Luz looked at Amity and Amity panicked. "Yes I very much love science" she said quickly. Gus and Willow nodded. Hunter decided to smile again because he really did not know what to do. The woman again had a spring in her step and said "Come on! Let me show you my lab."

The kids walked up a mountain. Luz grew tired and needed to take a break halfway up. Once the crew made it to the lab and there was a twig in the way. "Be right back!" "I'll go get my shovel." The lady walked away to her car. Hunter looked at the twigs but the hair on his arms tingled. "Guys I'm not so sure about this one, can we trust her?" Gus had to agree. "Yeah! What if she tries to kidnap us and leave us in the woods?" Amity laughed at this. "That's ridiculous." Willow however defended them. "Yeah it all feels a little weird to me as well." Hunter gaped and stood proud. His captain was so understanding.

The woman came back wearing a frazzled face and said "Found the shovel!" She broke the twigs and twisted the knob. "I always leave it unlocked." Hunter chuckled "Funny. Is that why the twigs are there?" The woman was confused then smiled. "Actually no, a storm must have brought them in."

Once the children were inside the woman then pressed a button, smoke appeared and "We Will Rock You" by Queen started playing. From the smoke, was a simply dashing metal ride that had legs and beeped frivolously. The smaller children became terrified and Hunter stood to guard them. "Relax it won't hurt you" beamed the woman. "Now that I finally have you all in here let me explain." "My name is Dr. Yogags and I am a scientist here at Central Connecticut." "I need you kids to test out my time machine so that way I can sneak it under the FDA and say it's been tested by legal subjects." Luz thought it was fishy and said "What do we get in return?" The lady smiled through her glasses and her teeth. "My full help on making a portal back to wherever you came from!" Luz looked down at the ground. What would her father say? He would probably tell her to do it, but not tell her mother, which she'd already been planning to do. Luz gave her hand. "Deal" Hunter turned to Luz "WHAT DID YOU SAY HUMAN?"

Luz hopped into the time machine and everyone else followed in. They were not as fast as Luz, mostly because they were still afraid, despite the reassurance. Luz pulled out a journal she grabbed from Belos and asked if they could go to the year 1657. Everyone was confused and Luz told them that she needed to know more about this guy named Caleb. Dr. Yogags pulled the lever and pressed a few buttons. Lights and sounds and a womanly voice told everyone to relax and close their eyes. The machine started to turn. A message popped up on the center screen in front of Luz confirming her choice. Luz hit OK. The machine's legs began to grow and it started to walk. Then it started to run and it became smaller until it was like an ant and then a flash and Dr. Yogags could no longer find them, even with a microscope.

When Luz felt a screech, she snapped out of it and noticed her friends still worried faces. Gus was crying. It might have been a bad idea for him to experience this. He had been through so much. Luz saw a ladder and motioned her friends to climb down. Once the gang got down, Amity curled into Luz and told her that she wanted this to be quick. Luz agreed. They walked to an old cabin and saw a tree with a p + c. She assumed that it could be Phillip, but she didn't know who C was.

They came across a river. Willow stuck her hand in the water for a drink. "Guys it's real water." Everyone rushed to gulp the water down. Across the river they saw a house. The house was large and had a wooden flagpole with a Canadian flag. There was a woman and a bundle that she was carrying and patting. Luz assumed it was a baby. Up a hill came a blonde man with a bundle of logs. He tossed a few into a nearby fire pit and took some into the house. The woman waited and when he returned she seemed in distress. Luz could hear her shout "Our baby is sick!" The blonde then said that he hoped the fire would help keep the baby warm and that they would head into town. The woman began to hiss at him and tell him that he is not listening to her. He snapped back at her and told her that he was doing the best he could. They both went in and Luz walked toward the house. The gang was unsure of what she was trying to do. Was she gonna walk right in and introduce herself to strangers?

Luz carefully made her way to the window. She noticed the blonde man with his baby. His blue eyes. Yes, this had to have been Caleb. The description Belos gave matches perfectly. This was Belos' brother. Within seconds, the strangers ate and were now closer to the window. The gang also peered in but Gus stayed behind, ready to make a run for it. Hunter noticed the hair strand that this man wore. He realized something, could this be the guy that Belos wanted him to look like. Could this be his clone? He started to head for the door. Luz stopped him and shook her head. Hunter had a few tears run down his eyes. He was angry. He was hurt. He wanted to know why. Why did Belos make him?

The timer was running low on the time machine and so the gang climbed back in and zoomed back to the present. When they arrived, Dr. Yogags asked them how the trip was. Luz could only stare into the void that was the wall in front of her. Hunter wanted to scream.
