Calla
Cheryl let me off the hook with some of my other duties when I showed her the state of the suite. I stripped the beds and found weird substances on the mattresses. The amount of dust was a fire hazard and there a couple weird stains on the carpets. Luckily the pack storage shed had a everything we needed to replace wrapped in plastic. With a lot of elbow grease and hours of scrubbing the room was spotless. I managed to get the crusty mattresses and throw rugs out of the room. Unfortunately, they were in the hallway and needed to be moved to the dumpster. And I needed to manipulate one or three of the wolves to get the replacement items.
I pulled out my phone to text Kate.
So, you guys still downstairs in the pack house?"
Kate texted back. Yep. We are still working on the schedule for the alpha visit. You need something?
Me, yah, I need heavy stuff moved.
Kate, what are you wearing?
Me, nothing that will "inspire" anyone.
Kate, did you at least wash your hair?
I didn't text back right away because I really wanted to lie.
Kate, 🙄
Me, look up?
Kate, no dummy, it's the eye roll emoji. Grab scissors real quick and cut the neckline of your shirt and try to fix your hair. Come down. There are three extra warriors here and one of them is Jay.
I sent her a thumbs up and went to the bathroom to fix myself. Since I was the only human that lived on pack lands, some of the pack mates had it in their head that I was a hot commodity. Especially Jay. He was a great warrior, but a complete idiot. He tunnel visions on me when most of the Omega females would gladly squeeze out a few of his puppies.
I get downstairs and knock on the conference room door. I hear a "come in" on the other side and I slowly open it. Beta Marc is sitting on the end of the conference room table. Kate is sitting next to him wearing a smirk. Several pack leaders are sitting around with a few warriors. "Calla, is there something you need?"
"Well, I was wondering if I can borrow Kate for a bit." We didn't have to mind link to know how to play this.
"What for?" Beta Marc asked.
"Well, I had to replace the throws and the mattresses in the Alpha sweet. Since she is the strongest female I know, I would like to know if she would be interested in helping be haul everything?" Beta Marc looked at Kate. He knew exactly what we were doing.
There was a bit of mumbling from some men in the room.
"Babe, you want a break from planning?"
"I don't mind helping Calla, she is human, you know."
"Beta?" Jay spoke up. I did an internal happy dance. "I would be more than happy to help Calla out." He turned to me and winked. I shifted on my feet pretending to be shy and let the collar of my shirt drop down my shoulder. Three more of the warriors stepped forward to volunteer their muscles.
I gave them instructions of what I needed and where to get it and to meet me back at the suite. Jay decided to stick with me as the others went to the storage area.
"So you are in charge of prepping the suite?"
Duh, I wanted to say to him. "Yep."
"I've never been inside of it."
"You helping cause because you are curious, or you like my company?"
"Can it be both?"
"Sure!" I head to the linen closet. I grab six sets of linen sheets, several comforters, and throw blankets and eight towels. I hand most of it to Jay and he chuckles.
"What are you doing on Sunday?" He asked. Sunday was my day off.
"Probably washing my hair." I was serious.
"After that?"
"I have to be on-call because the Alpha will be here."
"Do you want to hang out? We can stay on property."
"Aren't you on duty?"
"Oh yeah. High alert." We make it to the 3rd floor hall. "What the-?"
"Yeah." I managed to get the mattresses and carpets out. But that's it. The hallway was cluttered with large pieces of furniture and awkwardly folded carpets. He rolled his eyes at me and we parkoured into the room and put the linens in a safe spot. He gets to work and moves the mattresses out of the way just in time for the new sets coming in. They were looking at each other then looking at me and smiling. I could tell they were mind linking and telling jokes at my expense. It only took them twenty minutes to get the stuff set up and the hallway cleared.
"Wow, thanks guys! This was so helpful." I batted my eye lashes.
The one I think was named Colton chuckled. "You don't have to try anymore. This was much more fun than being in that room with Beta Marc."
"Wait, it wasn't my girlish ways that enticed you?" The four of them again snickered. Well, that was deflating.
"Calla." Ben spoke up. "You are like a little sister to the pack."
"More like the pack pet." Colton added.
"No one thinks of you like that anymore." Ben admitted. "Well, mostly no one." I knew he was trying to not look at Jay.
"That meeting was worse than being waterboarded." Fen finally added his two cents. Fen and Ben, Ha!
"Wait. None of you want to tap this?" I gestured to my body? They all shook their heads. "And you helped to get away from the meeting?" They all nodded. "Well then. Do you want a couple more jobs to stall you going back?"
