I stared. My knees locked and I tensed up. He waved his hand infront of my face. I blinked and shook my head, loosening up. "Hellooo?" He said, chuckling. I smiled up into his sparkling green eyes. "Hi!" I replied. He smiled back, looking me in the eyes. It was like, magic or something. Something clicked. "Can I have a hug?" I blurted out. "Of course!" he said, pulling me in. It was perfect. He smelled like Abercrombie's "Fierce" cologne which I had always tried in the store and loved for some reason. I smiled. We stayed like this for what seemed like hours.
When we pulled apart, I looked over to see a crowd formed around us. Luke was standing next to Joey. "Ready to start?" He asked. "Yeah." He replied, looking over. Joey, Luke, and Ingrid greeted everyone and explained how they would stand in the middle and we could all kind of gather around and watch as they open presents and talk and such. We all formed a circle around them as the first person went up to give their present.
Me and Ash were the last people to go up. She handed the stack of shirts to Joey and he un-tied the ribbon. He read the names on the packages and handed Luke and Ingrid their's. They all opened their gifts at the same time and gasped, with huge smiles. "You made these?" Ingrid asked, looking at Ashley. "Well, kind of. There's this store in the mall that makes custom tee shirts." she replied. "Wow cool!" We smiled and handed them the letters we wrote. They read them and said their thanks.
I hugged Luke and Ingrid and thanked them for everything. Last, I hugged Joey. We held on for 10 seconds. He pulled away and stared me straight in the eye again as he slipped me a small piece of paper and winked. I knew just what it was from reading all the fanfics. But I acted surprised anyway. My eyebrows furrowed and I looked up at him. He winked. My eyebrows raised instead. He smiled and I smiled back, holding his gaze for a few more seconds before we had to go. "Bye." He said. "Bye." I said. Me and Ash turned and went to the car.
"OH. MY. GOD." We both screamed as she shut the car door. We stomped our feet and clapped. "You have to give me his number." Ash said. I hesitated. I mean, he only gave it to me. I know she's my best friend, but if he wanted Ash to have it he would've given it to her. "I don't think so Ash..." I replied. "Oh come on." she said, playfully punching my arm. "I'm serious." I said. She looked at me confused. I awkwardly turned and started driving away. "Ok then, sassy pants." Ash jokingly said. I scoffed and rolled my eyes. The rest of the ride we talked about how nice Luke and Ingrid were, but not a word about Joey. I don't really know what Ash thinks about it at this point. I didn't want to be mean about it, but it's not my fault he did it.
I dropped off Ash and drove home. I shut the door and sit down in the living room. I immediatly swipe the paper from my pocket and entered the number in my phone, making a new contact. After 20 minutes of contemplating whether or not to text him, I decide on doing it. "Hey, it's Cora from the meet-up!" I type. My thumb hovers over the send button for another 20 minutes before actually pressing it. I got a reply within two minutes that said "Hey!! It was really nice meeting you today!" My eyes widened and I started kicking my feet. "Thanks, it was awesome meeting you too!" I replied. "=D So whats up??" After that, we literally texted for hours. All the way up till bed time. My gut kept telling me to call Ash but it would be awkward. Could I keep this from her forever?...
