Chapter 10

"YESSSS!" Ingrid and I yelled at the same time, we had just beaten Super Mario Bros. Yeah, it may have taken us until 2AM but we did it. The guys had been playing The Walking Dead but got bored, so went out to get food for everyone. "We're baaaaack!" Luke's voice rang through the house, interrupting me and Ingrid's victory dance. We looked at each other laughing and Ingrid skipped to the front door, me following behind. "What'd you get?" she asked. "Taco Bell!" Luke replied. "Yay!" I exclaimed. Jason got out the food and distributed it to all of us.

The cold air blasted in our faces, as we re-entered the game room. "Woah! YOU GUYS BEAT THE GAME?" Joey said with a shocked expression on his face as he stared at the screen. "Yup!" me and Ingrid exclaimed, smiling at our work. Joey finally sat down, so I walked over and sat beside him. "Wanna watch a movie?" Luke suggested, so we all agreed on one and put it on.

Suddenly, in the middle of the movie, I felt my phone vibrate so I set my drink down and pulled it out of my pocket. I stared at the screen, astonished to see a text from Ashley. I slowly unlocked my phone and read it.

"Hey Cora. Sorry it's so late, but I have to say that I'm sorry I've been neglecting you. I guess I've just been a bit jealous of you and Joey. You've been hanging out with him so much lately, I didn't want to interrupt. I'm coming over so we can talk."

I continued to stare at the screen, my mouth threatening to drop to the floor. Joey turned his head, "Everything ok?" he asked, worried. I turned my head towards him. "Yeah" I replied, smiling. He smiled back. I turned back to my phone to reply.

"Hey Ashley. You can't come over, I'm sort of hanging out with Joey at the moment. Maybe tomorrow?"

I nervously waited for her reply, and it finally came.

"Idk about tomorrow...I'll let you know." Oh god. She's mad.

"Ok." I replied, and slipped my phone back in my pocket. I can't let this ruin my night. I gave Joey another reassuring smile and nuzzled into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed the top of my head. I smiled and continued watching the movie.

"Cora. Cora!" I faintly heard. My eyes fluttered open and I was staring into Joey's dazzling green eyes. His face lit up when he'd seen me awake. "You fell asleep. It's 5AM." he said. "Time to go home." I nodded my head in agreement and stood up, stretching. "Where is everyone?" I asked curiously, looking around. "Ingrid went home and everyone else is asleep." Joey replied. "Oh."

We gathered our things and headed to Joey's car. The car ride was silent, as we were both very tired. We arrived at my apartment building and Joey walked me to the lobby. He hugged me and we said goodbye. I tip-toed to the elevator and then to my apartment. I quietly shut the door, not wanting to wake up the neighbors.

I walked to the bathroom and hopped in the shower, putting on my pajamas afterward. I walked to my room and quickly fell asleep with only one question. What will happen with Ash tomorrow?
