Author's POV:

A dark and woody scent, soft and welcoming. You inhaled Taehyung's scent, as tears left your eyes. He firmly held you in his arms, holding you gently. He was hesitant at first but when he saw you breaking down, he couldn't help it. He knew he just had to hold you, from shattering completely, from breaking down.

There was a limit to everything. Hearing your parents discouraging you every day, not being able to talk, it all was hard. It was, that you didn't know how to fix yourself, or maybe fix their thoughts.
"It's okay." He spoke, in a low voice. You knew it wasn't, it's no way it was. Yet, it soothed you, the fact that someone was there, holding you, soothed you, comforted you.

The Misty Cafe || 9:05 pm

You looked down at the sweet sugary drink from that day on the table. Taehyung smiled softly at you and said, "I've spent my remaining pocket money for the month on this... Aren't you going to drink?"
You gulped, you weren't really in the mood to but you also knew that this would at least soothe you. Not how Taehyung could, but somehow.

You took a sip of the drink, looking down embarrassed. You met him, nearly a few days ago, and here you were, wailing in front of him and even making him buy you a sweet drink from his pocket money. You felt guilty, for always ending up like a jelly in front of him. Your wounds seemed to open themselves up every time you were in front of him, you didn't like that at all. You didn't want to uncover all your scars to him like that, in no way. But your situation never supported.

"I'm sorry.." You mumbled out. He just sat there quietly, looking at you.
"Why are you always guilty?" He asked. You looked down, not knowing how to answer. You just blinked innocently, taking another sip of the drink.
"It's fine, Y/N. We're friends..."
"But I don't like... crying in front of others." You said, looking down.
"Then let me be an exception. It's fine, we don't need to know each other for years to see each other at our worst. Trust me on this." He spoke. Was he even a human? Why was he so understanding... unusually understanding and supportive? It was as if he knew you well, knew everything about you... which wasn't true or maybe you didn't know. You were confused.

"Why are you so nice to me? We don't know each other well.." Your question made him a little quiet. He just blinked twice, looking at the drink in your hand before looking at you.
"I'll answer it some other day. You don't want to know it now." He spoke, with a faint smile. You just looked down.
"Drink it up!" He spoke. He looked at the drink and said, "It looks better than that sugarless black coffee to me.."
"I'd prefer the black coffee for my bitter mood.. though."
You spoke as he sighed saying, "I see we're the opposites?"

You smiled and looked at the drink.
"Do you like jokes?" He asked with a smirk-looking smile as you said, "I'm not sure, I don't have people to share them with."
"Hmm, but I like to announce my jokes so I learn lots of jokes. Wanna listen to one?"
He asked as you nodded, expecting something but that was until he spoke, "Why was 6 afraid of 7?"
"Why?"
"Because 7,8,9."

You just stared at him blankly, wondering how ridiculous someone's jokes could be. He frowned a little saying, "I laughed for nearly 10 minutes after hearing this." You just smiled awkwardly, looking down.
"Alright then, another one."
"Where do most horses live?"
"Umm... where?"
"In neighhh-borhoods!"

You were perplexed, how come someone like him has such a taste in jokes..? He was laughing as you smiled, looking down. His joke was probably funny but his laugh made you happier. You knew he was trying to make you happy, that was all that mattered. Maybe he was bad at jokes, but his tries weren't bad at all.
"Actually, these jokes might not sound fun to you but to me, these are special. Because... my dad would often say these and annoy my mom. And I would laugh at the jokes." He said, you looked down and smiled a little saying, "Is your dad special to you?"
"Hmm... a lot. He was the one who taught me how to support people and help others. He always said that even if my tries fail, I should try to make a sad person happy. That's a way to be happy myself."
He was speaking as you listened to him.
"Your jokes sound better now." You spoke, in a low voice. He smiled and said, "I'm glad my little sob story gained some advantage!"

You wanted to tell him something, you wanted to tell him that his dad would be proud of him. You wanted to tell him that he did, in fact, make you feel a thousand times better than the other days when you were all alone. But you didn't, you kept quiet.

"Hey, I know it's late but do you want to come with me?" He asked as you looked at him confused. Your drink was almost finished, a few sips left. He smiled and said, "It's raining outside. Shouldn't we enjoy it?"
"Rain..?"
You asked, looking beside to see droplets of water on the windows of the cafe. It was indeed, raining. You didn't even realize it while being with him.
"How do we enjoy the rain..?"

There you both were, enjoying the rain. You ran in the rain with him beside you.
"Ah... we need to hurry!"
"We could've taken a taxi!!"
You spoke, chuckling.
"But then where's the thrill?!" He asked, loudly for you to hear in the rain. It was raining heavily, your hands intertwined with his, as you followed him, running through nearly empty roads at 10 pm at night.
"Ah!!" You groaned, standing under a shed as Taehyung was ruffling his wet hair, trying to get rid of the excess water.
"Did we actually run in the rain..?" You asked, a little perplexed. He nodded, with a smile. You smiled and said, "It's been so long I've run in the rain.."
"Did you enjoy it?" He asked, panting a little. You shook your head and said, "I want to run again."

"Should we?" He asked, thrilled. You just stared at the rain with a soft smile. He walked closer to you and stared at you before looking at the sky saying, "The night is too short for the long wait. Let's go!"
He took your hand again and ran as you squealed, following him. You were looking so excited, the most excited in all this while that he had seen you. He smiled as you both started running around in the rain.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Taehyung spoke, seeing you jumping and running around, forgetting he existed.

"That's too much excitement! You'll catch a cold now!" He said, running behind you who didn't seem to care about him. You stood under the rain, spreading your arms out, enjoying the rain. You closed your eyes, inhaling the scent of the rain, completely soaked.
You felt relaxed as if the rain washed down all your worries while you stood there. Taehyung stood beside you, admiring you more than the rain. The rain soon came to an end as you opened your eyes saying, "It ended fast..."
"Slower than the way you ran around." He spoke, a tint of sarcasm yet softness in his voice. You chuckled and said, "Hey! I love the rain!"

You stared at yourself and then at him. You both were soaked. You giggled a little seeing his grossed-out expression due to his shirt sticking to his chest.
"Y/N.." He spoke, in a low voice as you hummed curiously. You were looking really happy right now, really relaxed, unlike the other times when you had a tensed expression around you, a hint of insecurity visible on your face.
"I wish you could see yourself the way I am seeing you right now."

His words made you feel something you couldn't explain. The way he was looking at you with unreadable eyes, you wanted to know. You really wanted to know how he was feeling, his eyes were really looking at you in a way you've never been looked at before. A way of love and care, affection, safety, happiness? You didn't know.

He gulped and shook his head, looking away. You just stared at him, with your heartbeats playing with you. He smiled and said, "Let's go back. You'll catch a cold."
You nodded with a soft smile. At this moment, you could've sworn with all that you had, you wanted to smile at him, you wanted to thank him and tell him how happy and relieved you were. How beautiful the moment felt to you, you wanted to tell him everything. But you didn't. You kept quiet, once again, as you always did. Like you've always been doing.

You both walked towards your house.
"Go and take a warm shower or you might catch a cold. And... if you get scolded, don't worry. I'll wait for you till your punishment and scolding are over and then I'll comfort you again, or at least... try to." He said with a warm smile on his face. You smiled and said, "You too... don't catch a cold."
He turned around, ready to go but you stopped him saying, "Oh.. can you wait here, just for a moment?" He nodded, a little confused.

You quickly ran into the house to see the lights off. Maybe your parents were already asleep. You grabbed a towel from your bedroom and dashed outside the house, hoping that he'd be there. You smiled at the sight of him and handed him the towel saying, "Here... dry your hair on your way back. You don't have to return the towel."
He smiled, took it and said, "Thank you."
"What about you?" He asked as you replied, "I'll go and take a shower now. My parents are sleeping, I'm safe until tomorrow."

He chuckled and pinched your cheeks saying, "Smile like this, no matter what happens okay? I'm always here, as your supporter."
