Mom had fallen asleep in the chair next to Pop's bed. Her hand never leaving his, It was sweet how close they were. Every time I had asked Ma' to tell me how they met she always said to ask Pops, and Pops would say to ask mom. So I never got to hear the story... But I made up my own on how they met. I sort of connected Dots on how Pops was when he was younger and how he probably would've acted towards Mom. and Mom... She probably would've ignored him for a good portion of them seeing each other, of course, not romantically. I assume that happened after he finally convinced her to go on a date with him.

Marco was in and out of Pop's room every chance he got to see him. But because Marco was on call, He couldn't actually stay for all that long since he wasn't assigned to the case. a Different Doctor was. I think her name was Dr. Bischoff, She hadn't really introduced herself. Everyone else was informing the rest of the family and some close friends of Pop's condition. Luffy had done me the pleasure of telling Hancock that Pops was in the hospital. So, she gave me the next two weeks off, and if I needed more, she'd gladly give them. I had moved my chair by the window, watching the snow gently fall onto the ground.

I couldn't stand looking at Pops right now... He looked weak and vulnerable... After Marineford... He never truly recovered physically. His health was only getting worse. I needed some fresh air. I quietly got out of my chair, looking at mom and covering her up with a spare blanket in the room. I left before anyone could see me leave. I walked out of the hospital, and to the gas station 3 blocks away. It was a cold, but much-needed walk. Once inside I bought a pack of cigarettes and a Lighter. Smoking them a little ways away from the building and gas pumps. I was crouched to the ground, smoking the cigarette when I let out a puff of air. Someone stopped in front of me.

"I thought you quit," Thatch mumbled

"I did."

"Then why're you smoking?"

"...I'm stressed," I grumbled

"...Then gimme one, I'm stressed too. We all are. and Stand up, you look like an idiot." Thatch snickered, helping me up and taking a cigarette from me.

I handed him the lighter, Leaning my head against the brick wall of the back of the gas station. I flicked the end of the cigarette, getting rid of the ashes at the end.

"Kid was going to propose..." I whispered

"Really now... Thought he didn't wanna get married."

"That's what I thought too... but apparently, before I broke up with him... he was gonna Propose..."

"Is that what's really been on your mind?"

"...No... Thatch, can I tell you something?"

"You can tell me anything, I won't tell a soul" He hummed

"... I miss him, and Pop's health has been worrying me for a while now. He hasn't been the same since the big fight..."

"Y/n, No one been the same since the big fight. We all thought you and Ace were dead!" Thatch slid a hand down his face, "Ace is the only one out of you younger Kids that has healed mentally, Emotionally, and Physically right."
