"I don't think I'm available next week, Lens. I have to be in Dinagat."
"Ay, hindi rin ako available next week kasi...wait, Dinagat ka rin pupunta?"
"Yeah, may event doon tapos nainvite ako."
"Parehas tayo ng event na pupuntahan."
"Hmmm, more wifey time."
"Honeymoon part 2?"
"Gaga ka."
This was Leni and Risa's conversation a week ago as they went over their schedules to accommodate working on their divorce. It turned out that they were both invited to an event in the Dinagat Islands as speakers. Now here they were, in Risa's house at the break of dawn, with Leni fixing Risa's things while the latter showered.
"Kasi naman, alam na aalis hindi pa nag-ayos ng gamit kagabi." Leni ranted while neatly folding Risa's clothes. "Tapos, hindi pa maaga nagising."
She stood up and took a few essentials from Risa's vanity cabinet and called out, "Kailangan mo ba 'tong lotion?" A distant 'yes' came from the bathroom so she placed it in the bag, asking about the other skincare essentials.
"Risa, bilisan mo dyan. Marami ka pang aayusin." Leni called out and continued folding the clothes. "Next time, set an alarm ha. Dapat hindi ka masyadong nagpupuyat kasi lalo na't alam mong may flight ka kinabukasan."
Risa stepped out of the bathroom, her body wrapped in a towel, and leaned against the door frame, watching Leni nag her about not preparing ahead of time. "Look at you, acting like an actual wife," She grinned.
Leni stopped in her tracks and stared her down, "That's because I am your wife."
She threw Risa's shirt to her, trying her hardest not to look at the other woman's exposed damp skin. "Lalabas muna ako, magbihis ka na."
"Bakit ka pa lalabas?" Risa asked mischievously.
"Kasi magbibihis ka."
"Bakit pa? Para namang hindi mo pa nakikita lahat 'to."
Leni blushed, "K-kahit pa. Iba naman 'yun."
"Nahiya ka pa. Dyan ka na, 'di ka pa tapos magtupi oh."
"Ah talagang pinagtutupi mo pa ako."
"Please, wifey?"
Leni nodded slowly and Risa cheered, making her way to the other side of the room to get dressed while the other sat on the bed. The air felt thicker than it did a few moments ago with none of them saying a word. Only the sound of Risa's dresser opening and closing, clothes rustling as they were being folded, were heard in the room.
In her peripheral vision, Leni could see Risa's every move and she tried to concentrate on what she was doing. On the other hand, Risa watched Leni fumble with her clothes. She inhaled sharply, aware that the other woman could see her at least slightly.
Once she was done getting dressed, Risa walked over to Leni and placed a hand on her shoulder which seemed to have surprised her. "Hey, tapos na ako magbihis. Ako na magtuloy nyan."
"A-ako na. Check your other things baka may makalimutan ka pa."
"Thank you, wifey. You're the best." She leaned down and pressed a soft kiss on Leni's cheeks which had the other woman even more surprised.
"Risa! Wala ka pang bra dito hindi kita papahiramin kapag nakalimutan mo magdala ha." Leni announced as Risa walked back into the bathroom to get her toiletries.
