Normal POV
I didn't end up falling asleep, but when I opened my eyes, I saw Loki was laid down on the opposite sofa, fast asleep. I walked over to him, contemplating whether I should wake him or not. We were going out to dinner after all. But he looked so peaceful, I didn't want to stir him. I just barely patted his arm, thinking it wouldn't do anything. Yeah, how wrong I was.

Loki jumped awake, brushing his hair out of his face. "Sorry, but you fell asleep and I--"

"Yes, I didn't mean to fall asleep. And I do recall us going out to dinner."

"Oh, so you remember. Well, let me get changed and then we can go, if you still want to."

"Alright." He said, slowly rising from the couch. I went into the bedroom, looking in the closet for something decent to wear, lest I wear my work uniform. Despite me being on video chats, I still had to wear a uniform. I ended up picking out a lacy dress that had gold accents to it. I brushed my hair and did some plain eyeshadow with some crimson lipstick.

"I'm ready!" I called. Loki walked in and he was still in the same outfit I gave him, except that he had neatly brushed his hair. He looked nice. He looked down at me and said, "You look nice, darling." I turned pink at his comment.

"Thank you. You look nice, too."

"T-thanks."

Was he not used to receiving compliments? I typed an address in my phone and got my car keys. "Let's go," I chirped. Loki looked uncertain as we got into my car. "What is this thing?" He asked.

"It's a car. It takes you places, and you've got to have a license to drive it."

"Oh, so it's like a horse!"

"Yeah, but mechanical. And you've got to have a license to drive it."
Loki nodded slowly as I started my car. He held onto the sides tightly. "Hey, hey. You'll be alright," I said softly. He nodded but didn't ease his grip on the sides of the car door. The car pulled out of the driveway and the whole drive, Loki was white knuckled. Thankfully, the restaurant was not far away.
**********
We walked in and were seated immediately. After we had figured out what we wanted there was a bit of silence. "So, tell me about yourself, Loki," I said.

"There isn't much to say. The stuff there is, it's downright horrifying."

"I'm sure it's not that bad."

"You would say that, but once you find out, you'll kill me."

"Loki, why do you say that? You don't truly know me. I don't judge people on their worst mistakes. I don't judge people by what they are, I only judge people by how they treat other people."

Loki's expression seemed to soften a bit. "Then I am ready to tell you," he said. I cocked my head. "Well, maybe after dinner?" He asked. "Ah, after dessert," I laughed. For one of the first times, I evoked a genuine smile out of Loki.

We ate our food, talking about my life. I got F/I/f, and Loki got spaghetti. He seemed to be enthralled with it, as they didn't have it on Asgard. I let him try it and soon half of it was gone. We got the dessert menu and we could barely agree between (favorite dessert) and chocolate lava cake. In the end Loki got the chocolate lava cake and I got (favorite dessert).

We paid, and walked outside. "Come, into the alley. People will scream if I show you here," he whispered. I felt a bit suspicious, but as he had been in my house a while, I trusted him. "What was it--" the next time I looked at him, he was blue. Runes were etched into his skin and his eyes were deep red. "Don't look at me, Y/n, I'm hideous. I'm a monster," he said, tears filling his eyes. I reached out for him but he backed away. "Don't! I'll give you frostbite," he said, his voice shaking.

"Loki, I don't think you're a monster. You know that, right?"

"W--what?"

"You've given me no reason to believe you're a monster, or hideous. So therefore I will simply not believe it."
Loki smiled sadly and changed back into his normal form. I reached for his hand and he took it. "Thank you, Y/n. You are different from the rest," he said. We walked to the parking lot and drove home.

That night, I went to bed earlier than usual. Of course, I stayed up later reading. Loki stayed in my bedroom reading with me. My eyes grew heavy. It won't hurt to just take a break here, right? Right...I shut the book and before I knew it I was falling asleep.
