After the U.S.J, Ruby was sad she couldn't do more. Weiss was talking about how she helped save Ida and Professor Aizawa, and Yang would talk about fighting off hordes of villains. Ruby had fallen into a void without her scythe, and she, Kaminari, and Yaoyorozu were stuck with a lot of villains. Kaminari had shocked them all unconscious except one electric villain. He had taken Kaminari hostage and if not for Yaoyorozu's quick Weiss had been talking about how she had been the catalyst for saving everyone and her heroism. thinking, they would have been killed. She had made Ruby a pole and Ruby used her quirk to sneak behind him and knock him unconscious too.

Ruby was starting to get annoyed.

"Stop bragging!" She said after a particularly unbelievable story.

"Excuse me?" Weiss responded.

"What is wrong with you? You weren't that important, stop lying!"

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You didn't do anything helpful at all. You're here because you're supposed to be a hero. All you've been so far is a nuisance!"

"At least I'm not a liar!"

"Why are you even here? You're two years younger than everyone else! If you ask me, Ozpin made a mistake with you."

Weiss left, and Ruby wanted to scream.

"Well that didn't seem to go very well." Ozpin said from behind Ruby.

She twirled around to see the headmaster sipping tea.

"Was you letting me in really a mistake?" Ruby asked.

"Ruby, I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet. But at this moment I would not consider your acceptance to be one of them. Do you?"

Ruby paused and shook her head. Ozpin smiled. Ruby rushed to class and was confused as to why Weiss wasn't there. Weiss came in later, but it was too late for another confrontation. Professor Aizawa came in. He had bandages all over his face and his arms.

"Okay, even though we've been through a lot, we're still going to do the U.A sports festival." He explained

The class began talking, wondering how something so ordinary could happen now.

"Don't worry, security will be five times stronger than any other year. We will take many precautions."

"Is this really a good idea?" Sun asked.

"Are you saying you've never watched a sports festival?" Midoriya accused, looking like someone had just said they didn't know what breathing was.

"I've seen lots, but this isn't a normal time." Sun defended himself.

"The U.A sports festival is to Japan what the Olympics once were to the world. You can't cancel it over one villain attack." Professor Aizawa explained.

Ruby took his word for it since he had gotten the worst of the attack himself. After the lesson, Ruby tried to leave, but there was a crowd outside.

"Why are they here?" Weiss asked, looking at the people distastefully.

"They're from all the other classes. The other half of the heroes course, the general studies students, the support and the business course students. They probably want to meet the kids that survived a villain attack." Ren explained, trying to leave.

"No, they want to observe the competition." Bakugou said.

He stormed up and addressed the crowd.

"You're wasting your time. I'm gonna win no matter what you do, so you should just get the heck out of here and cut your losses." He yelled over them.

Ruby didn't know what he was expecting, but he made Class 1-A embarrassed and everyone else angry.

"You sure are modest. Is everyone in the hero course like this one? Gotta say, I'm a little disillusioned if this is what you're offering." Said a boy with purple hair. "There are a lot of students that tried to get into the hero course that ended up taking general studies, did you know that? Depending on the results of this sports festival they might consider transferring us into the hero course. I understand the reverse is also possible for you. This'll be the perfect chance to knock you off your pedestals. Consider this a declaration of war."

The class didn't respond. Blake nodded approvingly. Ruby wondered why he had a monologue planned.

"I thought you would be better than this, but you're just arrogant!" A boy from class B yelled out.

The crowd began leaving, disappointed.

The day of the hero festival, Ruby talked to Weiss again.

"Ruby, I'm sorry for being so rude to you." Weiss said. "I've spoken with a member of staff. I guess that being friends with you would be healthy for me. So I'm going to do my best if you still want to be friends."

"Really? Yeah!" Ruby agreed, hugging Weiss.

"I'm going for it too, with everything I've got!" Midoriya exclaimed from the other side of the room.

Ruby turned and saw Todoroki and Midoriya standing across from each other.

"Right." Todoroki exited as Professor Oobleck raced in.

"Let's go!"

The class entered the stadium first, all determined to win.

"Following class B, it's C, D, and E of general studies! Classes F,G, and H are from the support course!" The announcer, Professor Present Mic screamed.

"Can't forget the business course with classes I, J, and K!" Professor Oobleck chimed in.

"Does anyone actually care about anyone not in the hero course?" Professor Port asked over the loudspeaker.

"Yes, Peter! We're on air!" Oobleck said.

Ruby looked at the general studies classes. They all looked miserable. Actually, anyone not in the hero course or crowd looked miserable.

"They only brought in the other classes for a show." Ruby said aloud.

"Yeah. The festival is pretty geared for the hero course." Yang agreed.

"What a crowd." Midoriya breathed.

"One more skill necessary to become heroes." Ida nodded.

"Okay, the class A representative is Katsuki Bakugou." Professor Goodwitch announced.

Everyone in class A freaked out at the idea of Bakugou representing them.

"Is it because he scored first in the entrance exam?" Nora asked.

"The hero course entrance exam, you mean." A girl from class C corrected.

As Bakugou bragged about winning, the crowd of students began booing and shouting insults at both Bakugou and class A. Ruby slunk down in the crowd, feeling guilty that she had gotten to be here out of pure luck while so many others had tried, failed, and had their dream crushed.
