Ruby and Penny had been dancing for a long time. Ruby needed to have a talk with how Weiss could fight in heels. Penny asked if Ruby would like food, and they stopped to get some snacks. As she ate, she noticed someone on the second floor wearing a black catsuit, belt, and mask.

"Penny, I'll be right back." Ruby said, putting down her cookie.

"Alright." Penny said cheerfully.

"Uh, you didn't happen to bring Crescent Rose, did you?"

"Yes. You asked just in case."

Ruby took her weapon from Penny and began following the girl. They went into the hallway with all of the teacher's offices.

"Excuse me? This isn't a masquerade ball, so you should probably take off that mask." Ruby said.

The person turned, surprised. They booked it and Ruby pursued. The girl got to the balcony and jumped onto another roof. Ruby used her quirk and followed. When she reformed, she almost fell off the roof.

"Stupid shoes." She complained.

When she caught up again, they were at the communications tower. There were two knocked out guards. Ruby got into the elevator where another knocked out guard was. She stopped at every floor in pursuit and finally found the intruder over a computer.

"What are you doing?" Ruby asked.

The intruder stood up and her outfit began to glow. She materialized a bow and began shooting exploding arrows. Ruby unfurled Crescent Rose and fired back. An arrow hit next to her, and she tumbled away as it exploded. She was out in the open and the masked person had another arrow pointed at her. Ruby held up her scythe and stood her ground. Then the elevator opened, and General Ironwood stepped out. The intruder stiffened and ran.

"Thank you for helping me find that infiltrator. You can go back to the dance." The General said.

He took off and Ruby used her quirk to get back onto the balcony the way she had come. She walked back, but when she went by the headmaster's office the door was ajar. Ruby poked her head in, but nobody was there. She went to the dance and Penny, still feeling like that girl had done something.

The girls danced the rest of the night away. By two am, the party was winding down. The girls went back home, and Ruby got to her house. Her sister and dad were already asleep, so she locked the door and went to bed herself.

The next morning, Ruby was really tired. But she had to go to school. At breakfast, she told her father and sister about the intruder. Both of them were very intrigued.

"So, someone broke into the school, did something to the communications tower, and then the door they were near earlier was open? Did you tell anyone?" Yang asked.

"Not yet." Ruby said.

"Well, if General Ironwood saw you, you'd probably be pulled to give a statement or something." Her father explained.

"Well, we have midterms today so maybe you should go yourself." Yang offered.

Ruby agreed, and the two were off. They got to school, and Ruby had already had four cups of coffee to keep herself awake.

"You have your midterm exams today. Instead of the expected robots, you'll be going up against the staff." Professor Aizawa explained.

The class freaked out. Everyone was terrified at fighting actual pros.

"You'll be partnered with people we think will be good for you to work with." The professor explained. "And against an opponent that will challenge you."
