Not edited also sorry this one is a tad short :,) the others will be longer once the actual plot starts!
——————There was a certain level of panic that hit Natalie the moment she realize she was having a baby. I'm fact she couldn't really remember what happen except Jonathan's friend Argyle wrinkling his nose when her water broke all over his sneakers.
"Nah man, why did she have to do that on my shoes," Argyle said, his eyes half closed as he took a step back.
"Oh my gosh, it's happening!" Joyce shrieked as she instantly ran around for her keys, "Bob get Natalie's hospital bag, she's having her baby!"
"Are you scared?" El's voice suddenly said from beside her as she blankly looked down at her teenage daughter.
"Definitely," Natalie barley said as Bob ushered her to the car.
Mostly she remembered pain, being somewhat delirious as Will held her hand in the back seat trying to calm her down.
"Just breathe, Nat it'll be okay," Will said, his voice right with panic.
Natalie nodded and before she knew it she was being wheeled into the hospital, crying as her contractions grew stronger and stronger. She remembered looking to her left expecting to see Jim's face, or him holding her hand, and when she was out in the hospital bed she wished he was sitting behind her as their child came into the world.
For a moment it was perfect, the peace of having her child born, the people she loved in the room with her, but then she remembered feeling off.
"Natalie?" Joyce said, her voice distant as she snapped her fingers in front of her face, "you okay?"
After that she could only hear monitors rapidly beeping and Joyce screaming for the doctor to come back in.
—-That was three months ago when Natalie almost lost her life during childbirth. To say she was somewhat traumatized was an understatement, but she was so thankful that her son was okay.
Her son who was born at exactly eleven pounds, probably the biggest baby in the ward, and most certainly the loudest.
She smiled, watching El feed her brother while their two dogs curiously watched at her feet. It was good, everything was good.
Almost.
Her son, James, who she started calling Jay cooed as he grabbed at El's curls obviously feeling content and full.
"I think he is done," El said as she sort of awkwardly pulled the bottle away from her brother.
"That's good El, you did a good job," Natalie said with a warm smile as she grabbed Jay from El. She figured El wouldn't be to keen on burping her brother, "wanna get the mail? Maybe Mike sent another letter?"
El nodded, a bright smile growing on her face as she shot up and ran towards the front door.
Natalie smiled, softly patting her sons back as she slowly followed El to the front of the house to watch her through the window.
It had been hard ever since El started high school. Honestly Natalie wanted to homeschool her first just because she was so behind still, but Joyce and Bob insisted she'd be fine, and she needed to get acclimated to the real world. Which was true, but Natalie was starting grow worried.
There were times she would hear El crying in her room late at night when she was up with the baby, or come home with her head tucked down, trying to fight off tears. She wasn't dumb, she knew she was being bullied at school.
She tried to talk to El about it a few time, but every time she brought it up El would shoot her down, tell her they were her friends. She apparently had lots of them.
Natalie sighed, watching El stop by the pasture where her horse and Natalie's horse were currently in. She loved animals now always wanted to help Natalie with farm chores.
A deep hurt thrummed in Natalie's chest as El laughed when one of the horses tossed his head up, bobbing it up and down. Natalie wished that Jim was with her still, helping her through this, watching his son grow.
Natalie looked down at Jay who was blinking up at her with tired eyes. He had Jim's eyes, a grey stormy blue. "Someone sleepy?" She said as smoothed back some of her sons wild hair.
Natalie smiled as El opened the front door, tossing some random letters and a package on the floor as she raced back to her room to open Mikes letter.
Natalie shook her head, eyeing the pile of mail before turning on her heel to head back to her room to put Jay in his crib, both of her dogs flanking her sides.
