I woke up the following day with a smile on my face. After the kiss last night, Charles and I spent some more time together and just talked until one of us was close to falling asleep. Navi was already asleep on the left side of my bed while Charles was going to take the sofa in the room. He gave me one last kiss before the two of us went to bed and ended the night.
As I checked my phone, I realized that it was nearly eleven in the morning. Navi was still sound asleep beside me so I moved quietly, trying hard not to wake her up. Unlike before, the pillows and blankets Charles used were hastily laid out on the sofa but I didn't mind it as I headed downstairs since he must be in the kitchen.
The first floor of my house was completely silent and there was nothing out of the ordinary. I checked my phone for any messages but only saw some from my parents and Aurora thanking me for last night. Before I could reply to her, a knock sounded from my front door. The smile on my face dropped when I opened the door to reveal Aurora and Leo.
"Hey." I said, my voice low, as I stepped aside to let them in.
"Good morning?" Aurora greeted, sensing my mood. I shook my head and laughed, probably looking weird. I closed the door behind them as we headed to my living room, the couple situating themselves on the sofa while I sat on the single-seater.
"Sorry, I just woke up a few minutes ago." I smiled and they nodded their head in understanding. "Have you guys seen Charles?"
The couple glanced at one another with a smile on their face before Leo spoke. "He left abruptly this morning, saying he had to deal with some things in Maranello. The only thing he did was change his clothes and grab his keys before he was out the door."
That's odd. Usually, he'd send a text or leave a note, but I guess there must've been some kind of emergency for him to leave early in the morning. I brushed off the odd feeling in my stomach and offered breakfast to the couple since Navi would most likely wake up in a few minutes as well. They also came by to drop off the spare keys that Charles left them earlier.
As expected, Navi went down just in time when Aurora and I finished cooking but she was still groggy. She only joined the conversation when she finished her first cup of coffee for the day. The tables and tent were going to be dismounted after lunch so Navi and I would only be able to head out afterwards. She was leaving tomorrow morning instead, saying that she wouldn't survive a roadtrip after last night's drinking.
After lunch, Charles still hadn't sent a text and I was becoming worried. I sent him a short text earlier saying good morning, but he hasn't replied nor even read the message.
Bellerose: everything okay?
I closed my phone when Navi went down the stairs fresh from the shower and glanced at my phone. "Still no word?"
I shook my head. "You know how work is. Remember when three days went by and I wasn't able to reply to you?" Granted that I was on the other side of the world filming for a movie, it was also because of the hectic schedule I had during that time. The only free time I had was spent sleeping or doing media work so checking my messages flew out of my head. I got an earful from her that day, saying that I could've just sent a thumbs up emoji or something.
"Yeah, but that's because I'm your best friend and we've done that hundreds of times. Besides, you don't ignore someone the day after you kissed them." My eyebrows raised up in surprise after hearing what she just said and Navi saw this. "Val, the tent had windows"
