Hi guys! We've hit 4k!! I just want to say thank you so much for the support you've given to this story. I never expected the amount of reach we've received because this is my first ever fanfic but I'm very grateful especially for the comments. Everything is open to constructive criticism here as long as it's given kindly. I've read a lot of fanfics where the writers would pull out their stories because of disrespectful content and I don't want that to happen so tpwk!
This was heartbreaking to write but this is not the end yet 😉 I've already mapped out things that would happen until the Singapore GP.
Enjoy!

"He what?" Navi screeched as I walked around my room and tried to organize my things before putting them inside my suitcase. I have the entire day to pack my stuff and then tomorrow morning to say my goodbyes since my flight was leaving at around eleven.
My conversation with Charles last night has been swirling in the back of my mind. I didn't reply to any messages last night after telling Navi and Aurora that he was back since I wanted to have some time alone.
The conversation happened hours ago but it feels like everything's engraved in my mind.
"I left my relationship as well."
I felt the air being sucked out of me as my fork dropped on the plate. What the actual fuck? Before I could even open my mouth to speak, Charles already beat me to it.
"I met her during the summer break and we got together shortly after that. Her name's Chiara and she attended a race as one of Red Bull's guests during the Monaco Grand Prix. Everything with her was good until my life started going downhill." I don't know why he was telling me this. I don't need to know how he met or how long he's been with Chiara. Oh my god. I made out with a guy who had a girlfriend.
"Charles, this is—" I stood up, not wanting to hear more but he stopped me.
"Please let me finish." He pleaded, and it was the look in his eyes that made me sit down again. "When I left for Tuscany, it was never a part of the plan and not even my manager knew. I didn't want any strings to hold me back so I wrote a letter to Chiara, apologizing and telling her that it wouldn't be right to continue with this relationship when I wasn't even sure of myself. I thought she'd understand the letter but turns out, she's just used it to her advantage." I raised an eyebrow at what he said since his voice now had a tone of anger in it. "She's been 'handling' my disappearance by talking to the press— still as my girlfriend. It was helping my image to show that despite all the shit that happened, I was still in a loving and healthy relationship."
Yeah right.
"I went to Maranello for a meeting about the new car and mentioned a thing or two about this girl in Tuscany." He met my eyes before looking away and playing with his fingers. "My manager then informed me of everything that Chiara's been doing and said that it would be better to end things before it started because—"
"You'd look like you went off to Tuscany to have an affair while your girlfriend painted a pretty picture back home." I interrupted him, knowing how it'd appear in the public. Even if Charles came forward saying that he broke up with Chiara before he left, people would still question him and assume that something had already been going on between us when they were still together. It's a toxic side of being a celebrity and it's also the reason why I choose to date guys who aren't in the industry.
"Exactly." He sighed deeply, hands covering his face. "It doesn't help either that she signed a contract stating that she'd project the perfect girlfriend until the end of the season."
