(TW mentions death and serious injuries)

We were able to talk with some of the drivers, after Sunday's Grand Prix, who witnessed the crash.

Ferrari's Henri Laurent who's close childhood friends with Carter Gordon stated that he's never seen anything like it before, "The way the crash happened, and how quickly it escalated. It's something that's not supposed to happen in this day and age". He explained how he felt helpless as he watched the scene unfold, wishing he could have done something, anything to help.

Another driver, Andrew Rodrigues who drives for Red Bull, says it was an inferno, even from where he managed to stop he could feel the flames. He's expressed extreme gratitude that there were no more casualties, although the eight in hospital are still in limbo.

Alexander Zimmermann from Haas sends out wishes for the ones injured to make a quick recovery. The German-born driver was one of the drivers closest to the blast who wasn't injured. But tells journalists that what he saw will haunt him forever, but he's extremely grateful to have gotten away from it physically unharmed.

Zimmermann's teammate, Jonas Andersen, stated on Sunday how he had reached out to the families of the people involved, wanting to cover whatever costs he can to make it easier on them in these trying times. Other drivers have joined in on this. Andersen says "It won't undo what happened, but I wish to give them something to help with the grief".

The FIA and F1 have each sent out a statement about the crash, saying this never should have happened, and they will be working harder going forward to make sure it never happens again.

We can only hope for good news going forward, hoping for the survivors to make a quick recovery.
