Louisa's POV:

I never left his side. If I did it was only for a few seconds, minutes maybe.

After Santi was discharged and left with his parents, my parents, Veronique and I moved into Henri's room.

The doctors said his season was over, even if it had only been a week, and we didn't really know much.

He would not be happy about it when he woke up. But it didn't matter. If he wasn't fit for driving his replacement would drive for the rest of the season.

The guy was already driving this weekend as they were in Mexico. And from what Isa told me, everyone's on edge.

It was gonna be a long road before they felt 100% confident again, and I didn't blame them. Even those not in the crash could feel it. Only Henri, Martin, and Tom were out from the race, surprisingly, and the two latter were due to nerves. They were still shaken. I also suspect Tom doesn't want to show his face for fear of how the other guys will react.

Jen had said she tried to tell him they didn't hate him, but I get it. He's the cause of the crash, even if it was due to rain, but he couldn't have helped it. When it comes down to it, the crash would never have happened had the race been postponed.

"Maman? Où est Louisa?" Henri's voice was hoarse, as suspected, he hadn't used it for some time.

All four of us were on our feet as soon as we heard it. "Oh, mon cher Henri! Tu es réveillé!" Veronique exclaimed, hugging her son.

"Maman--Louisa", he groaned but hugged her back regardless.

"I'm here, Henri", I chimed in, my voice low, filled with unspilled tears.

His mom and my parents stepped out of the way, and we locked eyes.

Biting my lip to keep from crying I made my way to him when he held his hand out for me.

I hugged him as soon as I was within reach, and he returned the gesture.

"Je t'aime, Henri, tellement. Ne me quitte jamais." My confession was a soft whisper only meant for him.

"Je t'aime aussi, Louisa, tellement." Looking back at him, I pressed my lips to him, in a desperate, but soft kiss, as if I was never gonna be able to kiss him again. "Je ne vais nulle part, mon amour."
