RWBY: Ghost Rider

Chapter II

Yang arrives back at the house on Patch where she finds her Dad sleeping in the armchair and then sees Raven on the couch as Yang covers her up with a blanket. She starts to head upstairs to check on Ruby but then notices the mail on the counter. She looks through her fan mail but then stumbles upon a letter from Vale Hospital.

'Dear Mrs. Xiao Long; I am sorry to tell you this but the infection has spread drastically and may be affecting your bone marrow. I highly suggest you call me as soon as you can so we can schedule your treatment. Sincerely Dr. H'

Yang looked at the letter in horror as she realizes when Raven was hurting earlier, she lied to her. Yang's eyes began to tear up but she then hears someone walking in her direction, it was Raven.

Raven: What time is it Yang?

Yang: It's late.

Raven: (Sighs) I'm sorry we didn't wait for you. I guess we lost track of time.

Yang then grabs her toolbox and heads for the door until Raven stops her.

Raven: Hey, where you going?

Yang: Just gonna mess with Bumblebee for a bit. See you in the morning.

Yang is then seen tightening a bolt to her bike as she sighs and notices she could see her breath. It can't be that cold right now, right? Yang thought to herself as she breathed out again and saw her breath steam out.

Suddenly the flowers in the garden began to die as a man wearing a dark suit walks to the garage where Yang is. Yang starts using a socket wrench to finish up Bumblebee's checkup when she suddenly hears a voice calling her name.

Man: Yang Xiao Long.

Yang looks up at the man with a concerned look.

Yang: Can I help you, sir?

Man: Saw your fight in the tournament today. Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed watching you fight.

Yang: Oh, thanks.

Man: Perhaps you'd fight for me one day?

Yang: You run a fight club?

Man: The best in Remnant.

Lightning starts to light up the night sky.

Yang: Thanks but I'll have to pass on that.

Man: (Growls Softly) What's wrong Yang? Worried about your mother?

Yang suddenly got a chill down her spine and wondered 'how does he know'.

Yang: What do you know about that?

Man: Even a blind man can see she's sick. The thing about Grimm poison is the time it takes, the toll of loved ones. Lives that are altered. Plans that have to be changed.

Thunder crashes, startling Yang to where she doesn't notice the man's shadow.

Man: Yang... what if I could help your mom?

Yang: Yeah? How?

Man: How is not important. What if I could make her better... give her back her health? Would you be willing to make a deal?

Yang: Name your price.

Man: Oh. I'll take... (Turns his head side to side as Yang looks where was looking) your soul.

Yang: (Chuckles) Okay...

Man: By sunrise tomorrow, your mother will feel like a new and improved Huntress. And you... will have your whole life ahead of you. It's your choice, Yang. (Pulls out a contract and unwraps it) All you have to do is... sign.
