"Hey Jack!" I greet him as I walk into Panera. "What's up, Niomi?" He says back and gives me a hug.
"So, how've you been?" I ask him as we walk to the registers to take our orders. It's been almost a week since the party and we've texted back and forth a few times but really not that much. "I've been fantastic," he grins. "Oh, and why is that?" I laugh. "Because I get to hang out with you," he smirks. "Woah there, slow it down buddy," I half joke. Blake is still in my mind, I mean we just broke up not even two hours ago.
"So how has your day been so far?" I ask Jack. "Pretty chill, I just woke up right before I texted you," he chuckles. "Well, you clean up very nice in short time," I say impressed.
"Well you know, gotta impress the ladies," he grins, nudging my side. "How has yours been?" He adds.
"Eh, could've been better to be honest. I'm just glad you got a hold of me today," I say. "Awe I'm sorry to hear that. You want to talk about it?" He asks.
"I'll just tell you once we get our food since they're waiting for us," I say, pointing at the open register.
••••••••••••••••••••••
"Ok, so what happened?" Jack gets straight to the point once we grab a seat. "Can't even take a bite first?" I joke. "Nope," he replies with a smirk. "Well, too bad." I tease, taking a bite out of my baguette."Ok, so basically I've had this boyfriend for a while now," I start. When Jack tenses up at the word boyfriend I realize that I never even told him about Blake. "And he was really sweet to me at first but then as our relationship went along, he started to act a lot more sexual towards me. Like he'd sweet talk me, trying to get me to sleep with him basically which wasn't going to happen. That went down for a while and I guess I just tried to ignore it and maybe he'd end up taking a hint but he never did, so I finally had enough. I went to his house this morning and dumped him. It started off calm but then we started yelling and we both said hurtful things toward one another. And I know it was probably wrong of me to say what I said but I was just so angry and ughhhh," I mumble, putting my head in my hands out of frustration.
I feel an arm wrap around my shoulders and I look up to see Jack sitting next to me and just trying his best to comfort me. "You know what the worst part about it is?" I say more to myself than to him but Jack still answers, "What?" "I feel guilty about the entire thing." I sigh.
"Well don't. He obviously is a dick and you deserve better than him. No guy should try and pressure someone, especially someone he should be caring for the most, into things that they might be uncomfortable with. You should be proud of yourself for sticking up for yourself because a lot of people these days don't." He says, looking me straight in the eye.
"Thank you so much Jack," I mumble into the crook of his neck as I hug him. "I really needed to hear that." I add. "Hey, that's what I'm here for," he says nonchalantly while hugging me back.
"Ok, enough about my problems. Let's eat!" I exclaim, trying to bring the mood back to a cheerful one.
We both dig in to our food. I got a bread bowl with broccoli cheddar soup and a green tea while Jack got this sandwich thing with coffee.
"Oh my god this is so good," I moan while closing my eyes. "Woah niomi, I can tell you're really enjoying that," Jack laughs with raised eyebrows. "Shut up," I laugh, blushing out of embarrassment. "Awe don't be embarrassed," he coos and reaches over the table a pinches my cheek. I swat his hand away and return to devouring my meal.
•••••••••••••••••••••••
"So, tell me about yourself Gilinsky," I say as we return back to our table after throwing away our trash.
It's weird, we've talked about a lot of stuff but never really told each other about ourselves. Like our interests, friends, etc.
"Well what do you want to know?" He asks. "Anything you want me to know," I grin. "Hmm well I was born on September 10th, I have two sisters Molly and Laura, my best friend is Jack Johnson and I love to sing and stuff." He tells me. "What about you?" He asks.
"Well, I was born on July 11th, I'm an only child, I have always wanted to own a Newfoundland dog, my bestfriend is Jess, and I want to travel and pursue photography." I tell him.
"That's awesome, where's the number one place you want to travel to?" He questions. "Hmm that's a really tough one. If have to say Barcelona. I just love the culture over there and the architecture is amazing." I answer.
"Have you written any songs?" I ask Jack. "Yeah, Jack and I have written quite a few actually," he smiles proudly. "Well I hope I get to hear a couple one day," I smile. "Of course," he assures me.
"I want you to meet Johnson soon," Jack says. "I'm free anytime," I tell him. "Good. I think you'll like him a lot. He's a really good guy," he tells me. "I can't wait," I smile.
"So, do you want to go anywhere else?" Jack asks me. "Well maybe we could go to my house to drop my car off then we can just drive around or do anything we think of," I suggest. "Alright, sounds good." He says. "Leggo" I say, walking out to the parking lot.
••••••••••••••••••••••
"Jack! Wait up!" I yell, struggling to keep up my pace. We ended up going up to a beach that wasn't too far from where we lived. "No, you speed it up slow poke!" He shouts back. "Ughhh," I groan trying to speed up.
With my luck and lack of physical ability, I loose my footing and slip into the hot sand. "Shiz nitz," I yell while cracking up. This causes Jack to turn around and he immediately bursts into a fit of laughter as well.
"Here, you need a hand?" He offers his hand. I stick my hand up to grab his and using all my strength, I pull him into the sand with me. "Ha!" I laugh pointing at him and laughing.
"Ha ha, very funny," he grumbles, brushing himself off and picking me up. "Jack... what are you doing?" I warily ask, already knowing where this is leading to. "You've been a bad girl," is all he says. The way he says it makes my cheeks heat up uncontrollably. Hopefully he doesn't see that...
I realize that there's no point in putting up a fight since I obviously won't win and just dangle over his shoulder.
I hear the sound of the water become louder by the second so I prepare myself for the impact of cold water...
It never comes though. "Jack, aren't you going to throw me in the water?" I ask confused. "Nope. I was going to but then remembered we're driving my baby and you'll be all wet." He tells me, still not setting me down. "Oh my god." I mumble. "Well, are you gonna put me down?" I ask. "Oh yeah," he sets me down, adds," just don't fall again," and starts running again.
