It's been a few weeks since Jack and my date. We've gone on a few other dates and Johnson and Raven have even gone on a double date with us. Everything's been going great and I couldn't be any happier.
My parents have also gotten back from their little trip. Thank the lord, paying for all this damn stuff on my own (groceries, etc.) have been a pain in my ass let me tell you.
I've been working my butt off at work too. I realized that only working around 18 hours a week wouldn't cut it. I need to make enough money so I can make my own living by the end of this summer. So now I've gone from working only 2 days a week to 4-5 which is a big adjustment.
Today is an off day for me and instead of relaxing like a normal human being, I decide to go out and about.
My outfit today is a structured-ish cropped tank with a grid print with some black skinny jeans and black booties. I would've chosen a more summer appropriate outfit but today was a little chillier so I didn't feel like wearing shirts and sandals... plus this outfit is cute. (Outfit up top).
I also grab my camera and journal before heading downstairs. "Hey, mom. I'm going out for a little bit." I say, walking towards the door.
"Oh! Where are you going?" She asks me. "Umm, probably to the cafe and then to that forest we used to go to." I tell her.
"Oh, well.... do you mind if I tagged along?" She asks almost shyly. "I guess..." I say almost laughing at how nervous she sounds. "Alright! Let me just brush my teeth and fix up my hair and I'll be right out," she claps excitedly.
I go out to the car and start the engine while I wait for my mom. It's unusual for us to have this bonding time together but I'm oddly excited, although I'll never outwardly admit it.
I've always wanted to be the kid that had a great relationship with my parents, to be able to talk to them about everything with out fear of rejection or scolding. It's not that my parents are bad people and I'm not a bad kid, our vie a and opinions are just so different that conflict is destined to happen.
I'm snapped out of my daze when I hear the passenger door open and close and my mom is now next to me, talking about something I'm not even paying attention to.
"I'm sorry, what did you say, mom?" I ask her. "I was just saying how happy I am that we are spending some time together after such a long time." She smiles. "Yeah, how was the trip by the way?" I ask.
They came back earlier then I was initially planning but they still were gone for a while.
"It was pretty nice, i feel bad that we didn't bring you along but I'm not blind enough to see that lately you've wanted nothing to do with us," she sighs.
"Well yeah, it can be pretty frustrating when your parents don't support what you want to do with your life," I calmly reply, not intentionally trying to start an argument before we even pull off of our street.
"I know... and I'm sorry for that." Is all she says back, obviously also trying to refrain from saying anything else that could spark tension.
"So, who's this boy you've been going out with?" My mom changed the topic. "Oh, that's Jack." I smile and add," how'd you know there was a boy?" I ask, not remembering ever saying anything about him to them.
"Niomi, I may be getting old but I'm not blind. You have been walking around with a smile on your face, more than you ever did when you were with that Blake boy. And I also notice you dressing up to go out places which you also never usually do." She tells me.
"Oh. I really like him, mom." I admit to her, feeling really good to let this out to her. This is what I always long for.
"I hope your father and I get the chance to meet him soon. I'm sure he'll be great," she says with an edge to her voice.
"Mom, he's nothing like Blake if that's what your worried about," I sigh, glancing over at her worried expression.
"I'm not saying he will be. I just always get nervous when you find interest in a boy. You're my daughter and I just have the protective parent syndrome," she speaks softly.
"Ok," I reply, laughing slightly. "So, do you have anywhere in particular you'd want to go today?" I ask.
"I'm fine with anywhere. Mall would be nice, I really need some new clothes," she chuckles. "Alrighty, sounds good." I grin. I could get used to this.

"Oh my gosh! He did that for you?!" My mom exclaims while sipping on her fruit smoothie.
We were sitting in the crowded food court after the long day of shopping. She got a ton of stuff while I only got a couple shirts, a pair of shorts and boyfriend jeans.
I just told her about my first date with Jack and she seems to love him already without even meeting him.
"Yeah, he's really sweet." I sigh, sounding like a love sick 13 years but I mean, can you blame me?
"He sounds like a keeper," she smiles approvingly. "I hope he is," I admit. "Much better than Blake," she mumbles but I heard her. "Mommmm can you please stop bringing him up?" I beg, not mad just sick of hearing that fuckboys name.
"Oop, yes I'm sorry," she says apologetically. "Thank you," I laugh. "Thanks for coming along with me, I enjoyed it." I tell my mom.
"No problem, sweetie. I wish that it would've always been like this," she says, a look of regret on her face. "Me too," I respond.

"Jack, be ready in 10 minutes. I want to bring you somewhere," I say through the phone. My mom and I got back home a little bit ago and I really wanted to bring Jack to my special get away.
"Ok, where are we going?" He asks. "You'll see," I smirk, hanging up.
