Things were so far off from normal, of that Hermione was certain. Hermione was smarter than your average witch and she was certain that something was wrong with her. Her mind was hazy, bits and pieces of memories were missing. She felt like she was a puzzle that was 90% complete but no one could find the last pieces to finish her memories. She had been brought to spend the last month and a half of summer with the Weasleys due to the danger of Voldemort's return. However over the course of the past 2 weeks she had noticed that things were off with them. Mr. Weasley would very obviously avoid interacting with her, Ginny kept giving her side glances like she knew something Hermione didn't, and Mrs. Weasley kept following her, Ron, Fred, and George with her eyes as if she was scared that if she looked away they'd disappear.

Hermione also had the strange feeling that she was being drugged.

But Hermione was nothing if not logical, so she conducted an experiment. She refused any drinks made by Mrs. Weasley and Ginny and only drank things brought to her by Ron and the twins or drinks she got herself. Over the course of the 4 days that she had been doing this experiment she felt her mind starting to clear and her magic strengthening. However, she knew she needed to keep acting as if everything was still the same but she knew now she needed to get out of the Burrow.

Two days before Hermione was about to spring her escape plan, she felt a powerful surge of magic overcome her. It was as if a million voices were screaming out and calling for her. She felt as if dozens of claws were raking down her brain and trying to pry their way inside her. But just as quickly as it came, the feeling left, and Hermione was left on her knees in the muddy grass behind the house.

"Hermione!" A panicked voice reached her ears and she felt hands grasping her shoulders and shaking her. "Hermione, you've got to come out of it." Her gaze cleared and her eyes came to rest on Ron, crouched in front of her.

"Ron?" She gasped still trying to gain her breath back after the magical attack. "Ron did you feel it too?" He nodded and helped her stand before hastily walking them over behind a shed, out of eyesight. He waited as she took a few deep breaths to pull herself together before he dropped her hand.

"What the bloody hell do you think that was?" He asked. She shook her head in confusion.

"I'm not sure, but it felt familiar. As if someone was calling for my help."

"I thought so too." The both leaned against the shed wall as if in deep thought. "I wonder if Harry felt it too." Ron commented offhandedly. Hermione hummed in response. They stayed behind the shed for a little while longer before Hermione suddenly shot off the wall and turned to face Ron with a look of absolute shock.

"Harry!"

"I'm Ron" he deadpanned looking at her with an unimpressed expression. Hermione rolled her eyes and smacked him on the arm.

"No. Harry! It was him!" He frowned as if he was uncertain. "Think about it Ronald. We haven't heard from Harry all summer and then out of nowhere we get some kind of magical SOS. It's him!" Ron straightened up.

"You're right Mione." His victorious expression faded into one of deep concern. "What if he's in some sort or trouble. Or hurt." Hermione's eyebrows were furrowed.

"We have to go to him." She looked ready to storm off on some rescue mission but Ron grabbed her elbow.

"I don't know if you've noticed this Mione but neither of us are in the right state to rescue Harry if he is in some kind of trouble. My brain feels like its been picked apart and then fogged over and I'd bet anything you feel the same. Plus my mum has hawk eyes on us and my sister looks ready to off the both of us at any given time." She gave him a look. "Oh you thought I didn't notice?" she shrugged as if in apology.
