Chapter 12: The Upside Down

"Holy shit Y/n.." Robin says looking at you. You were drenched head to toe with water, and covered in monster blood, holding some metal pipe.
You guys hear more screeching from behind you "Shit-" Eddie says as a bat flies toward him, he hits it down with his Oar "Nancy, watch out!" You call out as a bat goes straight for her back. It pulls her back "Robin get it off me!" They struggle with the bat on her back.
Another bat goes straight for Steve, he grabs it by the tail and slams it to the ground as Robin finally gets the Bat off of Nancy's back. It goes straight for you this time, you grab it by it's tail, pulling it out of the air and slamming it to the ground. You stomp on it's head, killing it.
"I said come on you son of a bitch!" Eddie yells at a bat circling him "I said come on!" He shouts taunting it, it flys straight for him. He stabs the bat right in the face and plunged it into the ground
Steve bit a piece of a bat and slammed it to the ground a few times, before stepping on it and ripping it in two. He throws the one half of it away and spits out the chunks of bat in his mouth.
You all pause to catch your breath. Steve leans against you as his wounds bleed out. He puts an arm around you to stay standing. "Steve-" Nancy says running up to him and checks his wounds. "Jesus Christ.." Robin says
Eddie throws a little tantrum in the back "Jesus H. Christ!" He says throwing his oar to the ground.
"Are you okay.." Nancy says quickly checking his wounds. "Well, they took about a pound of flesh off of him.." You say pointing to his sides with your free hand. "Y/n kicked some monster ass before you got here.." he says referring to when he was getting strangled and shit.
"But other than that, yeah, never better." Steve says chuckling a bit.
"Uh, do you think these bats, have, like rabies?" Robin says crouching down by a dead bat. "What..?" Steve asks confused as to why she's more concerned about that.
"It's just that rabies are, like, are my number one greatest fear. And I think we should get you to a doctor soon because once the symptoms set in, it's too late. You're already like, dead." Robin says starting to stress out over the whole situation.
"Robin, rabies should be the least of your concern. We are literally in another fucking dimension." You say gesturing to the gross vines, and the fact your in the middle of lovers lake, just without water.
Before she could respond you guys hear more screeching. Round two, you don't know how long you can last. Eddie and Robin quickly run to you guys, getting ready to fight more demo-bats.
They don't go for you guys this time, they fly straight to the gate, sticking their little tongue things through. "It's like a watering hole...for monsters." You say watching them search for food. "Alright. There's not that many." Steve says, the little bats turn around and screech, as if calling for something.
You guys see a whole swarm of Demo-bats ahead. They all start screeching. "You were saying..?" Robin says to Steve as you watch the swarm get closer. There were hundreds of them coming towards you guys.
Nancy tugs your arm "The woods. Come on!" Nancy starts bolting it to the clearing of trees. You started running after her with Steve, his arm still wrapped around you, using you for balance. Eddie and Robin run after you guys.
"Run faster!" Steve yells at you. "A little hard when you haven't slept in four days!" you snap back at Steve. You were running on pure adrenaline.
You guys were running through the forest, stepping over vines. Nancy leads you all to Skull rock, but instead of there being grass, and trees, vines were covering the whole thing.
"Quick under there!" Nancy says pointing to the gap underneath. You all huddle below it, you hear the swarm fly passed.
You didn't know how much longer you could go. Your eyes were getting heavy, adrenaline was starting to wear off. Your head falls onto Steve's shoulder, he shakes you awake. "Sorry- sorry." You says blinking, trying to keeps your eyes open. Steve could tell you weren't going to last any longer.
"Okay... that was close." Robin says slowly getting up. "Yeah..Too close" Eddie says following behind her. "You guys, I don't know how much longer Y/n can go.." Steve says nudging you awake.
They look over at you, you were sickly pale, your eyes were red and pink. Nancy sits you and Steve down against the rock. "Jesus Steve, your losing a lot of blood.." Nancy says checking his wounds some more. "You can let go of me now Steve." You say nudging his arm. "Im keeping you awake..." He says out of breath and nudging you every two seconds.
Nancy rolls her eyes and tears fabric from her shirt
"So, the good news is I'm pretty sure wooziness is not a symptom of rabies- but if you start having hallucinations or muscle spasms or you start feeling aggressive like you wanna punch me, let me know. Okay?" Robin says as she kneels next to Steve, she's clearly freaking out.
"Robin?" Steve says, clearly annoyed "Yeah?" She says worriedly "I kinda wanna punch you-" He says while wincing in pain.
You snort a bit "Sense of humour's still intact. That's a good sign." You say laughing and reassuring Robin.
Nancy finally gets a long enough piece of fabric from her shirt. You help Steve sit up a bit so Nancy can wrap it around his torso. "You ready?" Nancy says holding out the fabric, Steve nods.  Nancy wraps it around, Steve groans at the pain "Sorry-" Nancy says as she ties it in the back.
"Too tight?" Nancy asks as you lower Steve down against the rock "No- that's good.." he says putting his head back. There was an awkward silence as Nancy and Steve were having a moment, Steve was still gripping onto you for dear life. You finally were released from his grasp. "Jesus- finally. You stink man." You say pulling away from Steve. You get up and walk to Eddie.
He hugs you tightly. You practically melt into his arms. "Thought I lost you..again.." he says into your shoulder. "Nope, just got dragged into hell.." you say laughing a bit.
He pulls away from your grasp, he heard something. He passes you off to Robin, she holds you up.
Eddie climbs a rock and looks around, just realizing where they were. "So uh...this place is like Hawkins, but with monsters and nasty shit?" He says looking back at Nancy and Steve. "Pretty much." Nancy says helping Steve up from the rock.
Eddie goes to step down "Wait- watch out for the vines. It's all a hive mind" Nancy says to Eddie before he fully takes a step onto a vine.
"It's all a what-?" He says looking at the moving vines.
"All the creepy crawlies around here, dude. They're, like, one or something. Step on a vine, you're stepping on a bat, you're stepping on-" "Vecna.." you say, cutting Steve off.
"Shit." Eddie says stepping down, trying to avoid moving vines.
"But everything from our works is still here, right? Except people?" Robin asks Nancy, she knew more about this than anyone. "As far as I understand it, yeah." Nancy responds. "So, theoretically, we could go to the police station and steal guns and grenades and whatever we need to blow up those bat things that are guarding the gate?" Robin was on to something, if the Upside Down is a copy of the real world, then you should be able to grab weapons and shit like that.
"I highly doubt the Hawkins PD has grenades, Robin." Steve says. "Hey, but Robin is onto something- if it is a copy, we could grab weapons and shit.. we might actually stand a chance down here." You say trying to back up Robin.
"Well, we don't have to go all the way downtown for guns. I have guns, in my bedroom." Nancy says, you aren't necessarily surprised, the say she handled those bats back there was impressive.
Eddie finally makes it down from the rock and walks up beside you "You, Nancy Wheeler, have guns, plural, in your bedroom?" He looks at her confused. "Full of surprises, isn't she?" Robin says nervously.
"A Russian Makorov and a Revolver." She says responding to Eddie. "Yeah you almost shot me with that one..." Steve mumbles. "You almost deserved it.." Nancy whispers back.
Eddie takes the Denim vest from his jacket you were wearing off, and throws it at Steve. "For your modesty dude.." You look at Eddie with a glare, he just shrugs and looks away.
The ground starts shaking, you and Robin fall on top of Eddie. "Holy shit-" you say as the ground still shakes. Eddie wrapped his arm around you while you held onto Robin for dear life. You guys wait a second to make sure the ground has fully stopped shaking.
A creature snarls in the distance. You sit up while on Eddie's lap and look around. Eddies arm was wrapped around your waist while you were practically bear hugging Robin.
"Yeah so guns seem like a pretty good idea to me-" Eddie says still laying on the ground.
You let go of Robin, she turns to you "Thanks-" she says and gets up. You nod and Eddie sits up finally, his head was next to yours, he kept his hand on your waist. He was just staring in the direction the snarl came from.
Robin helps you up. You brush dirt off of your legs "So what are we waiting for?" You say turning on your flashlight.
