Chapter 19: Preparing for Battle

(🚨SEASON 4 VOL.2 SPOILERS!🚨)

The RV was steady and you've been  on the road for a bit. You were sitting next to Eddie, leaning your head on his shoulder. You finally felt like you could sleep safely again. You close your eyes, just listening to everything. The road, your breathing, Eddie's breathing, the weird song playing on the radio. You hear Nancy and Steve talking in the front and Lucas and Max talking in the back.
You open your eyes, and peer over at Eddie. He was staring out the window. The image that Vecna showed you of him kept flashing into your head.  You grab his hand, and intertwine your fingers. He looks over at you and smiles a bit. You rest your head on his shoulder again, and finally close your eyes. You felt a light kiss on your head, you smile slightly. You finally fall asleep.

You are suddenly waken up by Eddie shaking you. You look at him, your eyes were half open. "We're here." Steve says to everyone, he parks the RV by the side of the building. There were a lot of cars so you couldn't risk going in. "Hey Robin, get me some new clothes, yeah?" You ask nodding to her. He nods in response and they all pile out of the RV.
It was just you, Eddie, Dustin and Lucas in the RV. You sit up and face Eddie, smiling slightly. He stares back at you with a smile. You look down at his lips, butterflies flutter in your stomach again. You waste no time and kiss him, full on. His arms wrap around you, pulling you in. Dustin and Lucas groan in disgust. "Gross.. can't this wait?" Lucas says scrunching his nose. You ignore him and continue.
"What the hell is taking so long..I can't stand looking at these two. Practically mauling his face off." Dustin says checking his watch.
You break the kiss out of annoyance. Eddie looks at you, his mouth open a tad, flustered. You smile. The door bursts open, making you jump. you all turn to look.
Nancy and them all pile in with bags of stuff "We gotta go." Steve says sitting down in the drivers seat. "Your old friends are here." Erica says to Lucas, quickly shuffling to the back.
"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!" Dustin shouts at Steve. "I'm going! I'm going!" He shouts back, starting the RV.
He immediately starts driving away from the 'legal' weapons store. Robin tosses you a bag, you glance inside. There were clothes in it, like you asked for. "Got us matching outfits." She says with a smile. You smile back "Cute."

You guys stopped in an open clearing to prepare for battle. Eddie and Dustin were making shields in the distance, Erica as Lucas were making spears, Steve and Robin were by the trailer making explosives, and Robin and Max were sawing the barrel off her shotgun. You were inside the trailer, changing into the clothes Robin got you. Pretty big camouflage pants and a black short sleeved shirt, It even came with a little red hat and boots.
You head outside the trailer and see Robin and Steve talking. You didn't want to interrupt so you sat in the middle of the clearing, watching Dustin and Eddie put nails into trash can lids. You were close enough to hear their conversation. "How's it feel?" Dustin asked "Light, but durable. Deadly, but reliable." Eddie says hoisting the shield into the air. You smile, you don't know what you would have done without him.
"Hear me now. There will be no more retreating..." he says in a dramatic voice. He turns to face you "..From Eddie the banished." He spoke in his normal voice with a smile. He looks you up and down in your new ass kicking uniform.
"Hey, you're really ready for bat-tle!" Dustin jokes, bringing Eddie's attention back to him. Eddie stares at him with a blank expression. "You get it? Bat-tle! B-A-T? No..?" Dustin says as Eddie just stares at him blankly. "I thought I had a good one.." Dustin mumbles putting his shield down. Eddie tried and tackles Dustin, they start play fighting. A smile slowly makes its way to your face.
"Never change- Dustin Henderson. Promise me?" Eddie says, now holding Dustin. "I wasn't planning on it." Dustin says smiling at Eddie. They had a small moment of silence "Good. Good." He says before patting Dustin's shoulder and letting him go. You bit your bottom lip, something about this moment just made you happy.
"Hey, Sinclair's. How are those, uh.. spears coming on?" Eddie asks Lucas and Erica. Lucas gives him a thumbs up. Eddie nods and makes his way over to you. He sits down next to you, there was a moment of silence. He goes to speak, but you immediately cut him off and kiss him, knocking him down on his back. You were partially on top of him, he wrapped his arms around you. His lips were just as soft as before.
You break the kiss and sit up, looking down at him with a smile, he smiled back. "I'm done waiting Y/n." He says and pulls you back down into a kiss. Everything felt so right, you couldn't explain it. You didn't have to worry about anything, nothing at all. You knew, right here right now, you Y/n, are in love with Eddie 'The Freak' Munson.
