Robert could only see Cora's profile as she sat up front. He knew how dreadfully she felt these things. Living in England hadn't changed everything about his beautiful wife. Robert tried to think of ways to help James remember her. Suddenly the young man said, "Is your name, Alice, Mother?"
Mary winced that was their nanny's name and she died when James was 5.
Cora felt as though someone had punched her in the stomach. She wanted a more hands on approach to raising her children but Robert and Mama insisted it was better to have a nanny. Now James thought that Nanny Alice was his actual Mother. Would an hour after tea time help him to remember? Would James ever remember her now?
