Cora went to her room, completely done with the day. James started to remember the accident and relayed it to his father and sisters but Cora couldn't listen to him talking about the trampling he experienced. James recalled many things except her and it hurt to have him looking at her suspiciously like she was lying to him. She was pulled from her thoughts by a knock on the door. Robert entered and sat beside her on the bed, placing his arm over her shoulder.  She leaned her head on him. "My darling, he'll remember you before too long, I'm certain of it."

"Lets get you into bed, you need rest," he added, helping her under the covers. She smiled up at him as he brushed the hair from her eyes and leaned down to kiss her. Robert got in and Cora moved over to snuggle closer to him. He wrapped his arms around her smiling when she began speaking of James' Christmas after he turned 13. He had wanted his own horse, 'Not a mare!" He said repeatedly.  Robert got him a sturdy horse and told him it's name was Emily. James was so angry that he shouted several expletives at Robert. He shut his son up by shoving  a jam filled tea cake into his mouth, saying. "Just be glad that wasn't a bar of soap!"
