It had been two weeks since Nathan had asked me to the ball and I had already gotten my dress and mask both of which sat in my closet at home.

Thornbrook had also gone all out for preparing for it as apparently they had rented out an event hall and were redecorating it for this year which only told me that the school was backed by the wealthy. Nathan had actually told me that in order to even get into the school there had to be a sizeable donation to prove one could actually afford to send their kid there then there was tuition, and various other ways that families managed to essentially buy privilage for their children.

Earlier this week we had gone suit shopping for him since we had decided to match in our own way. Me being me had chosen a rich purple coloured dress, and black lace styled mask, Nathan had chosen a black suit with a matching pocket square, and tie.

I was currently sitting shotgun in his car heading through Manhattan at night while listening to music and holding hands.

"So what is the surprise this time?" I ask looking over at him and in response he just gives me a mysterious smile before going back to paying attention to the road.

"You'll see" he says before slowing and taking a turn down West 57th Street.

Pulling up to one of the buildings considered part of Billionaire's Row which I recognized as 111 he turned and went down towards a garage.

"Why are we here?" I ask.

"I bought one of the penthouses here" he explains before getting to the bottom of the ramp, where I could see all of his cars parked evenly on both sides of the room.

"All of these are yours?" I gasp having never seen all of his vehicles and if this was what the heir to Winters Group could have for vehicles I didn't want to see his parents garage.

"Yes Scarlett, they are all mine" he smirks before parking, and I got out of the Aston Martin.

Looking around I would admit this was one of the few times I was awestruck.

"You seem unfamiliar with this kind of view" Nathan remarks walking over to me.

"I am" I exhale still semi wide eyed.

"Ignore the materialism, I just happened to be my father's son" he says while guiding me towards the elevator before we got inside and he hit the fourth to last button.

"You're right near the top".

"My home covers two floors with seven thousand square feet".

"Fun".

"You aren't afraid of heights are you?" he asks giving me a concerned look.

"No, I just am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact you have a penthouse" I say meeting his eyes.

"My parents made sure me and all my siblings had a lot of money available to us as adults. They also agreed to let me because I am the oldest and I asked to do this with wholly self reliant income" Nathan explains, "so my bank account".

"At least you can say you live on your own".

"Yes I guess I can".

Then the doors opened and we both walked out into a penthouse that I immediately viewed as being very Nathan. Wood and marble mixed, along with neutral grey and brown tones. The ceilings were double height so I was looking at fourteen feet from floor to ceiling.

"It's very impressive" I comment.

"Yes that was the point" he says walking into the living room and staring out over New York.
