The morning of Christmas I walked downstairs rubbing my eyes that were still hazy from sleep as I hadn't yet showered.
And I honestly didn't fucking care.
The boys were here all up in bed except for Lucian who was by the window drinking coffee already.
"Good morning" he greets noticing my tired expression.
"Morning" I reply practically dragging myself to the coffee maker before getting a dark roast of a Canadian coffee company that my parents had been buying for years before walking into the living room to join Lucian.
"How'd you sleep?" I ask leaning on the arm of the nearest sofa.
"I slept good Amelia is cuddly at night, I woke up with her pressed as hard as she could get into my chest without moving me".
"That is sometimes how it is isn't it" I muse taking a sip from my mug.
Lucian lets out a hum with a soft smile on his lips, and I actually found amusment in the fact that he was a Harrington, same hair and facial structure, but there were mannerisms that screamed of my reclusive, and cunning family that came from my aunt.
Out of all of us having a direct cousin as a friend was actually kind of interesting because our parents were always around so Lucian and Chloe were more like siblings then separate relatives.
"What is it like having all the confidence of a family with the world at their fingertips, but also knowing better then to have that corrupt you?" Lucian randomly asks.
Harrington trait: curiousity, Winters trait: perceptive analysis.
"The confidence is to cover the pressure that comes with my family name, trust me it's fucking overbearing at times. I have Alexander Winters as a grandfather who started Winters Enterprises, that was rebranded as Winters Group International upon his death by my dad's request. I'm the son of Adrian Winters who turned WGI into a multi trillion dollar global conglomerate".
"My parents don't expect me to do anything but try my best, but at times I've felt like my best isn't what it should be. I'm letting shit that isn't important get to me, just forget it" I mumble going to walk off to the office so I can get everyone's presents.
"Nathan" Lucian says and I turn back around to face the brunette.
"You know it's important or else you wouldn't have vented, yeah okay I'm family literally but you're still my best mate that's how it is".
Male Harrington and Winters habit: the word mate.
"If you have things on your mind talk about it, either to me or your girlfriend. Even your parents, bet you any amount of money they went through what you are now at some point in their lives" Lucian adds.
"I find that doubtful, my dad has been able to face everything, and win. The man has a personal wealth that rivals countries GDP".
"That's because your dad runs the world" Lucian laughs and I crack a smile.
"Debatable" I retort, "I also have to get everyone their gifts so I'll be back" I add leaving to get the boxes from the office.
Unlocking the door to the wooden panelled office I crossed the room and began to stack the boxes so that I could get all of the boxes to the living room before thing one and thing two got up.
"Want help?" Lucian asks peeking his head into the room as I perched a pile of silver wrapped gifts on my left arm.
"Sure the snowmen wrapped gifts, and the red ones need to come out, the rest got sent to London two nights ago, Scarlett's are staying here for when she gets back to NYC" I say carrying out boxes to the living room where everyone had already brought gifts.
