The Pool Party

03: Drama, and more drama..

I just don't know what to make of him. None of my friends get him, I can't keep having my emotions pulled like this.

Suddenly, a boy sits next to me.
"Hello gorgeous!"
"Will! You scared the bejesus outta me! Where have you been? I haven't seen you this whole start of the school year!"
"Yeah well, I decided to skip the first week. But then I got to thinking about you and it made me want to come back."
Will and I have a lot of history. We actually went on a couple dates sophomore year. But it never went anywhere.
"Well, I'm happy you're back!" I say. 
"Ems, I didn't come over here for a welcome party. I missed you! I think we need to hang A-S-A-P!"

Is he hitting on me? Doesn't he pick up that that ship sailed like, a year ago? I've moved on. Or I guess, moved back to James. Everyone else has always been second choice.
"Yeah! We need to pick a day!"Will smiles, touches her cheek and leaves. As she watches him leave.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Will does deserve another chance. And maybe I just need to completely forget about James.After she finishes her thought, she looks back up to see Will in a fight with a football player.
Or, maybe not..

I run to try to break it up. 

As students start to surround the fight, Caleb and Sophia see Emma from a distance and run to see what the commotion is about. 

"STOP! BOTH OF YOU! WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING? THIS IS RIDICULOUS! CAN YOU PEOPLE HELP BREAK IT UP INTEAD OF FILMING?" I say while doing everything she can to stop them. James then comes out from the main building.

He just watches the fight, and pretty much scoffs. Emma gets on top of Will's back to try and break up the fight, not realizing everyone can see up her skirt now. All the other football players are loving it.James quickly gets into action and grabs Emma off Will's back, pulls her skirt down, and keeps her arms from hitting him. 

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GET OFF OF ME! PUT ME DOWN NOW JAMES!!"
"Nope. Not till you take a chill pill."

Emma kicks and struggles for a minute and then tries to calm herself.
"Okay, okay, I'm calm. Now PLEASE put me down."James gently puts her back on her feet.
"Thank you.."Emma then starts swinging at James. Screaming all kinds of stuff at him.
"WHAT GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO PICK ME UP? I'M TRYING TO STOP A FIGHT AND YOUR BRUTE SELF COMES OUTA NOWHERE AND BEAR HUGS ME??"James, not phased at all by her 'hits', calmly replies.
"I don't really wanna tell you."
"That's not for you to decide!"
"Uh, okay. Your whole butt was.. out."Emma looks at him, mortified.

"Wh- what?"

"All the football players were enjoying the show."He gestures at the group. They all cat-call her.
"I think a thanks is in order, Ems."
"Thank you!"
"Okay, back to hating you."He walks back towards the school. Emma follows close behind. But before she can try to fix whatever bad blood they have, Will comes after her. James disappears into the sea of students.
"Emma! Wait!! I'm bleeding!"
"Wha- why did you fight that guy?"
"For your honor."
"My God! Can everyone stop with the protecting act?"
"He said something about your butt and I just couldn't take it."
"Another thing! Can everyone stop with the butt obsession? God!"I storm off. Caleb and Sophia catch up to me.
"What the HECK just happened? Are you okay?" Sophia says, with a concerned look.
"Yeah, I'm good. These boys will be the death of me! But, of course the only thing that bothers me is James' hate for me. He won't even explain why."
"You gotta talk to him!"

"I try! He's really not down to talk. I really don't know what to do."

Boring class. My doodling is way more interesting.. Mrs. Lubfoot starts class.
"When we break down this sentence, what do we get class? Anyone? No? Of course. So if you look at it..."Her teachings fade into the background.
Why do I care? If he hates me, he hates me. But, the thing that bothers me is that I don't even know WHY. He doesn't even have the decency to tell me. He probably wants us off the roster for the party. But, he hasn't said that yet. He hasn't said ANYTHING yet.
