I live in a pretty normal town, with pretty normal neighbors, and friends. While everyone lives their day to day lives, with their own unique struggles and hardships, there's me! Emma Harte. Oh, and my family. There they go arguing with each other. Another normality in the Harte house.
" I shouldn't have to be forced."
I can hear James exclaim, outside of my bedroom window. Him and my mom are arguing again. She's trying to get him to spend his senior year at Santiago High, which is his old school. I guess it's just not up to par for him anymore , after attending St. Bernard.
While I listen to them argue, I'm just trying to get some writing done. I love to look down at my arms and see my own business' cool stuff. My friends and I have a joint school business together, selling this type of charms and jewelry, and many more. I can hear the mumbles of my mom and brother outside from our driveway, they just got home. I'm trying to concentrate!
"I'm not forcing you to go, you've just been doing so well at St. Bernard High, that Santiago says you can come back! Its a good opportunity to reunite with your old life." mom says.
"I really couldn't care less about going back, mom. The people there suck, they're so boring, The teachers suck, they don't know how to teach or calm down their own classrooms. At St. Bernard at least they could do that. But the biggest thing is my friends. I don't want to leave them! So why would I want to go back, what's the point?"
"I'd feel better if you went back to regular school, honey. It'd be better for you too. Getting away from those.. other kids would be good for you!"
"I don't care mom! I want to stay at St. Bernard. That's final. Also, it IS a regular school! I'm sorry your standards don't fit the criteria. You can't force me to do anything. Also, they're not those 'other kids' they're better than the pretentious pricks at Santi. So what if they get in trouble a little more. That's their right!" James says while practically yelling.
"Don't raise your voice to me James. I just don't want to see you go down the wrong path." mom's obviously agitated now and beginning to become annoyed with James. Serves him right.
Finally, I've had enough. I head to my bedroom balcony, which faces the driveway.
"Hey! Some of us have important things to focus on up here! Could you cool it?"
Mom looks up at me, bright-eyed.
"Emma! Perfect timing hun! How so very happy would you be if you heard James was coming back to your school? He got accepted again!"
I'm shocked. I never in a million years thought James would want to come back to Santi. Oh wait, he doesn't. mom is gonna force him to go.
"Well, I wouldn't mind if James came back." I say, staring at James.
"See? James, even your-"
"No one cares to hear your input, Em." James states.
What's up his ass? I take a deep breath to try to control my emotions.
"I take it back. He can rot at St. Bernard."
I storm off to my room, I can hear mom trying to get me to come back. James laughs. Sounds like he's the pretentious prick.
I close the door behind me and lean against it. I want to hide. Good thing I have a make shift cubby room! I start writing profusely in my diary.
What does James know anyways? He Basically said my opinion wasn't important in the slightest. What an asshole thing to say! Could he have been more rude? He's the most repulsive, egotistical, pompous dude on the planet!
