No talents.

For I, was a defect.

Ever since birth, all I would do was be quiet.

Never moving.

Never talking.

All I had was my internal monologues to keep me company in this room.

Time ticking by ever so slowly.

~~

You woke up and shuffled out of bed, opening the curtain to hear the outside world continue on while you just stood there motionlessly. Another day- another- well another day. You sighed and let go of the curtain, then grabbing your blanket off the now barren mattress and sprawling it back out on the bed, it lying neatly. Then, after staring at the covers for a few more moments, trapped in a daze, you walked out of your room and into the living room of your small residence that was located in zone three of the city, which seemed to be the most rundown as well as having the most crimes- not that you minded. If anything, you were grateful to have found a place for so cheap considering all you had was what your parents left you after they passed on seeing as how you didn't exactly have a job. Now, any normal civilian in the city would go out and get a job and you had tried. But nothing seemed to work as each time you were either declined during the interview for little to no qualifications or just flat out fired other times due to miscommunications, confusion, and just not a great work ethic. You couldn't help it, really. From the time you were a small child, to well- now, you always seemed to dwindle off rather than working for hours on end like what was expected of your kind.

Optimism was a little bit out of the question since you practically lived your days like it was your last, really never knowing when you'd get caught or run out of food or anything of that nature. See, everyone in the Days Union had some sort of role to play to help out the community. You, on the other hand, were what was considered a 'defect'. The ones who lurked in the shadows. The ones who simply did not belong. And those who were found out to be anything short of perfect were shot on sight with no remorse, the Majesty not taking kindly to those who don't pay their share of something. So, with all that in mind, you decided you'd make the most of everything and go out, usually fooling around with other civilians who were off work at that moment. You were a regular. The only reason you were never targeted was because the Union never did seem to care about the civilians unless they were either infected or causing harm. You did neither. If anything, you made civilians' days brighter, your little shtick earning you laughs from small groups of passersby.

This was more than most of the operatives could say as they usually relied on striking fear into the civilians rather than bonding with them to get their respect. Deep down you always hated the operatives, knowing they were simply nothing but heartless killing machines that would gladly kill everyone in a second if ordered to. But the majesty wouldn't do that, would he? You shuddered at the thought of if your own leader didn't care about you. But that must've been you just getting into your own head again, right? Of course he loved all his civilians. He must've just not known of what his operatives did. And you never tended to think about these things too much since all it would bring to you was most likely your death. Anyone in the city that even dared go against the ruling of the leader or the operatives authority let alone question it would be shot then and there. You found that a bit strange, of course, but again, never really looked too much into it. You were supposed to go under the radar, not make a bigger target on your back. So you shrugged off the thought and kept walking.
