"Jeez, it's really pouring out there." Seth said, looking out the window as his arms rested on the table. They were currently at Dan's diner, it wasn't too far away from where Jack lived, and none of his family often came up here so he didn't have to worry about turning around and seeing an unfriendly face, ready to give him a scolding. It took him so long to gain Emmett's trust, having to constantly reassure his "father" that he wasn't going to do drugs or hang out with horrible people. Hell, Jack is still pretty sure that he has doubts. But, Emmett allowed it, after constant good grades and lots of begging. Of course, there was still a catch. It was Emmett after all.
"You must be home before 8PM, and I better see the completed homework that you so badly needed to work on in peace." Jack agreed to the conditions, he'd finally have an excuse to see Seth and not act like a boyfriend who didn't pull his weight in the relationship and constantly make excuses to not come. Plus, today was a special day. Well, more of a special day is approaching. Tomorrow will be valentines day. Jack wanted to shower Seth in the affection that he deserved. It wasn't easy, putting up with a spouse's family that's batshit crazy and christian. But, Seth stayed strong and no matter through the ups and downs (Mostly downs)
Seth didn't dare leave Jack's side or call the relationship off. When they first began dating, it was one year ago and Jack had become pessimistic that it wouldn't last longer than a few weeks. His devices being taken away, being forced to shove his head into multiple books, attend church and its activities every Sunday for hours and hours, also having to take care of his own depleting mental health. So many times, Jack was tempted to call it off just to save Seth the time, knowing his family would never get better and Seth deserved better. Thankfully though, Seth talked him out of it and reassured the other that things would get better.
"Yeah, though it is pretty nice to listen to." Jack mumbled, attempting to focus on the homework he brought with him as it was already 7:45PM. He just had two more questions left. "Hey, Jack?" Seth said, looking at the focused teenager. "Yeah?" The other said, looking up from their work once they finished writing their answer. "I want to thank you, you made this a special day for me." The 16 year old spoke, smiling. Jack smiled back. "Anytime. I'm glad I finally got to spend proper time with you in person. I've missed your face a lot."
"That sounds so cheesy." Seth groaned, removing his arms from the table. "Exactly. I know you hate cheesy comments so I gave you one." The male responded, finishing the last answer to his homework, sighing as he stacked all the papers up. "The only downside is that I have to work twice as hard to show Emmett that I'm working better when alone, but I can deal with it." Jack moved up, fixing his posture as he groaned. "Are you sure? We could find another way- I promise, Seth. It's alright, plus the homework isn't too difficult most of the time."
"-And when Dan accidentally gives me the answer when I ask for help on any difficult question." Seth chuckled, Dan always had a bad habit with telling someone the answer or getting to the punchline before the joke was finished. "Well, I have to get home before Emmett makes my phone blow up from notifications. Bye, dear!" Jack said, catching the other off guard by the new name as he slid out from the booth seat. "Uh- Y-Yeah! You too!" The other stuttered out.
And with that, Jack gave a quick peck onto Seth's lips, turning around to go grab his bike that was right outside the door.
