It's finally sunny again. I stood at the open window as I felt the light breeze as the smell of rain came on. I smiled at it. I hope Riftan takes it easy today. Last night he seemed distant? I don't know how to put it in words " Sleep. I need to visit the watchtower because of the rain" is what he said to me before leaving. We haven't gone to bed since the banquet. The banquet... " Y/N I need this please" " Fuck Y/N...." " Dammit, Dammit. Why are you so perfect Y/N" .... Feeling my face heat up I put my hand over my face as I smile at the thought. " My lady" I turn quickly to see Rose, my face heated a thousand times more " Oh the weather is so nice today Rose have you seen it yet I mean I've never seen the sky so blue before I am talking fast? I am oh crap sorry sorry you were saying something Rose?" Rose giggles " We deserve it after such a long rain. The rainy days feel much longer. So many things to watch out for and tend to... are you relieved it's sunny again, my lady?" Rose said, moving on from my ramble. " Yes, I'm really glad," I answered genuinely. " It must've been hard for everyone" " Indeed, my lady. Everyone has been hurrying to hang out the laundry since morning" Rose answered. I looked over to the side and saw that the flowers were withering, and Rose seemed to notice. " Shall I change the water in the vase? They'll last longer that way. And I'll store some dry ones somewhere safe" Rose offered. " I would appreciate that, thank you" I said, turning to her with a smile.

I've been in the library for most of the day going over to renovate the castle but got bored, with my head leaning on my hand as I spinned my pen in hand as I hummed a tune. The thought of Riftan popped up in my head and I smiled. I have been having a hard time trying to find a thing to write about but I don't think a song about different types of textured curtains would interest anyone. Why don't you just write a song about Riftan? I thought. Maybe I should write a song about him. I sat up properly and started writing. As I'm about to finish up I hear someone knock at the door. I shot straight up. I feel my hair is messed up so I quickly brushed it as best as I could with my hands. As I'm doing so Rose walks in, I smile and remember what I had been doing a minute earlier and push the paper aside for her not to see. " W-What is it?" I asked as I sat stiffly. " The lord will be dining with the knights. Would you like to join them, my lady?" Rose asked me and I felt everything in me lighten up. " Let's have dinner together. I may finish early today" That's what Riftan said the night before, I am still somewhat uncomfortable around them but I said I would join him. " Yes I would love to!" I beamed.

Slowly walking down the hallway I started playing with my hands the closer I got to the doors. " You're here, my lady," Ridrigo said as he opened up the door for me. " That won't do! We're already late as it is" I hear a voice yell out from inside the room. I stopped in my steps and listened in. " Don't make me repeat myself. We're leaving in three days'' I hear an all so familiar voice say. " We can't be late for the victory celebration! How far do you intend to disregard the king's goodwill?!" I hear the blonde one yell. " Hmph! For once, I even agree with him" the one with red hair agreed. " The rain stopped. What's keeping us from leaving?" "... The rain... will be back very soon. I've also sent a message explaining that I haven't been home in three years. I'm sure the king reuben will understand" I hear Riftan answer. " I understand you want to keep your distance from the king, but you might lose his favour if you do too far!"

" Watch your mouth, Elliot"

" Everyone here knows that king Reuben tries to summon you at every opportunity"

" Are you worried he'll use your achievements as an excuse to keep you in the capital? From the things he's done. Including the incident with the princess Agnes. We understand why you'd be cautious. But going too far will only antagonise him. After all, He's always been wary of the nobles"

" He's right. If we don't attend, he'll probably think you wanted to humiliate him in front of his vassals. And who knows how he'd retaliate? You know he can hold a grudge"

" Hebron Nirtha! It's treason to speak that way!"

" Quiet. Did I say we aren't going? We'll go once the rain stops"

" Sir! If we had just gone straight to the capital instead...!"

I stood there not knowing what to do, I looked down at my hands and saw that the skin around my nails were peeled back. I cursed myself as I turned away from the door. I hear Rose try to talk to me " I'm tired" was all I said before walking off to my room.

Riftan needs to leave in three days. Was all I could think about. I had the papers in front of me that was the song. I had finished it up and I was thinking about the chords. As I finished it up I heard the door open. " Why are you still awake? The maid said you were tired, '' Riftan said as he looked at me. I turned to look at him before looking back at my papers '' I'm fine. You must be tired. You've been out since dawn" I answered while playing with the edges of the paper. I glance back at him and can't help but think about him hoping I was asleep. " Still, I'm glad that the rain has stopped today..." I added as I got up from my chair. " I wish they had lasted a bit longer..." I hear him mumble. I look back at him. " Pardon?" " No, it's nothing" I tilted my head in confusion but brushed it off. I walked over to my wardrobe and took out my nightgown. I placed it on our shared bed and started to undress myself. I put my hands behind my back to untie the lacing in the back but I was having a difficult time doing so. " Hey Riftan, could you untie this for me?" I asked him as I walked over to him sitting by the fire. He looked up to me " Yeah s-sure" he agreed and started to untie it for me. " Done" He said I thanked him and took off the dress before going to our bed just in my undergarments and putting on the nightgown. All while I'm doing that I feel his eyes on me but when I turn around I see that he quickly turned back to cleaning up his sword. I smiled before grabbing the guitar and sat down where I was before.

We sat in silence as I plucked at the guitar as I hummed the song in sync. At times I would glance over to him. Soon I was bored of what I was doing and leaned on the guitar and just looked at him. " Something you want to say?" I hear him break the silence. I looked at the sword in his hands " You must treasure your sword. I thought knights usually ask servants to polish them..." I said as I frowned my eyebrows. " I've been doing this since I was 14. Besides, I don't like anyone touching my sword" He answered as he looked down at it. " It must be a great sword"

" It's one of the best in all the seven kingdoms. I got this in my first sword fighting competition" He said, making my ears perk up. " A sword fighting competition...? Did you win?" I asked as I sat up properly. " Of course," He answered. I remember when my father would bring Rosetta to see them. I was only able to read them in novels. She would always complain about them being loud, filthy and barbaric events but I still envied her. The most romantic was the kiss between the victorious brave knight and the noble lady. I wonder if Riftan... "... has ever received a kiss as well?" He takes a pause " A kiss?" He said my eyes widened, I said that out loud didn't I... I felt my face slowly heat up as I covered my mouth in embarrassment" Oh n-no, It's just that- I read it once about a knight and a princess. When the knight won the jouste, they shared a kiss and I thought it was wonderful..." I felt more stuipd the more that I talked. " No. Sorry to disappoint, but nothing like that's happened to me" He said to me, making me confused " But isn't a ladys kiss a knights... greatest honour?" I asked. " I used to be a lowly mercenary, so that idiotic mentality is foreign to me. And I don't think it can be considered honourable to kiss a woman who scowls at my approach" He answered. I sat there surprised before I heard a thud and see Riftan hovering over me, he leaned in close to me.

" Are you not feeling well? You don't look good"
