᯽Travelling into town was never my favourite chore. It was an hours ride on horse, and that proved to be difficult since I didn't have one. I hadn't left the house in months, so I didn't see as to why I needed one. Today proves just that.
As I'm quietly strolling down the muddy path, rucksack on my back, it starts to pour torrential rain. It's strong weight is proving to be too much on my small frame. Not to mention I'm soaked in less than a minute.
A sudden noise is heard behind me. I turn slowly, four dark soldiers are behind me. I pull my hood up, not wanting to be noticed. They come to a jarring halt. The horses are so close to me I can see the crest on their hooves.
I stare at it for a second more. It's a crow on top of an apple tree. I've only ever heard it in stories and and picture books. These were no normal soldiers. These were hers. My breath hitches at the final realisation. Is the evil queen behind me? Should I be saying my final prayers?
"Excuse me fine sir" A man's voice is heard above the chariot. With my hood up, they must think I'm a man.
I tip my head slowly to the stranger, not meeting his eyes. Rather his boots. "Yes?" I respond as deeply as I can. My hair being slicked back into a braid is helpful. My wispy strands making it seem as if I have a short haircut.
"Would you know where the nearest town is? We've been travelling in circles" His voice is strong, but cocky.
I finally reach his eyes. He has a skinny frame. What catches my attention most is his hair, it's the blondest shade I've ever seen. I know that shade of hair anywhere. The stories of Queen Ravenna always involved her brother, Finn. They were both known to have the most golden hair for miles. That has to be him, it just has to be.
"Whereabouts are you headed?" My tone is quiet and strained.
"Hogsfeet" He responds with a high class accent.
"Just follow the path and you'll be there" I nod wanting this interaction over with. I purse my lips and start walking. The man seems satisfied enough with my information.
The soldiers equip on their horses and ride past me. The man with the blonde hair stares at me for a moment as he's being whisked away with the speed of his horse. What on earth is the queens army doing in Hogsfeet, and not to mention her brother?
With the rain having no intention of stopping, I sigh continuing my journey.

Since now having the knowledge that Queens Ravenna's soldiers are in the closest town, I opted for a longer journey to the neighbouring town. It wasn't much further but it gave me the peace of mind knowing I won't run into her minions.
Finally making it to the market, I rustle for my cloth bag. A wide range of vegetables and fruits are in front of me. My mouth waters at the sight of it. I haven't seen this much food since, well, I don't even know!
I pick up carrots, potatoes, onions, and anything I could fit in my bag. "Thank you" I smile to the young woman at the stall.
It's stopped raining, but my hair has since turned into a dampen curly mess. I breathe in the fresh due as I walk down the path. I forgot how nice it was to be around the hustle and bustle of a village. Children laughing, drunken men arguing outside the local tavern. It was a mess, but a wonderful mess indeed.
